Found this campground in 2016 and became an instant favorite! Grew up camping and now have three kids of our own. Great family campground with plenty for the kids to do. Water is awesome and the softest, sandy beach and extends into the water. The water stays shallow for a long distance so the kids have plenty of room to... More

This is the place to stay if you want to combine an "Up North" camping experience with partying heartily. I live in the area, and South Park has always been known for its party atmosphere. It has all the amenities, but sometimes, things get out of hand.

Beautiful park. Easy on and off the lake for ice fishing with snowmobiles, four wheelers or walking out onto the lake. Many things to do in the summer. Swimming, boating, camping, day visits, boat rental. Has a store to buy items and/or lunch.

I still prefer to camp at roomier, less crowded North Higgins Lake State Park, but after visiting South many times this past summer (a relative bought a home nearby), the small beach at this park is beginning to grow on me. You have to take the same swimmer's itch precautions you do at North, and owing to the proximity of... More

I haven't camped here yet, but I came here to swim in Higgins Lake. Beautiful and well maintained lake that I have ever been in in Michigan. I look forward to camping here, as my friend has camped here, and she showed me the campsite. Also can't wait to check out the hiking trails.

I camped here growing up and as an adult with my own family. It is a lovely park with 3 loops of camping sites. I consider the sites a decent size, with a little privacy. Dirt/grass. Picnic table and fire pit at each site. Clean bathrooms. Great playground equipment, both old and new. I found my early childhood metal slide... More

This park is clean and quite large. We showed up for the Halloween weekend and were excited to see that the staff really got into this and the place had decorations everywhere. Make your reservations early as the place always fills up. The costume parade could have used a bit more organization and publicity and thanks given to the sponsors.... More

Very quiet state park on Higgins Lake. Our site was nice and shady with a view of the lake. The lake is clear with a sandybottom but too cold in September for this Florida girl to swim in. We had a huge fire ring for nightly camp fires. This was a great spot for a family camping vacation.

This is a beautiful S.P. The campground is top notch and the lake, ( Higgins Lk. ) is one of the most beautiful in the state of Michigan.

We camp quite a bit but this is one of our favorites! Being able to stay for several days, we were not only able to enjoy one of the most beautiful lakes in the country (yes....it's known for that ) but we were only a little over an hour away from the beautiful Mackinaw Island and 20 minutes from historic...
