Easy takeout - healthy options
Aug. 2020 • Family
Inside the shop is confusing. Clash of empty boxes, apparel, and covid-spaced tables.

That aside, the food was delicious and a welcome healthy alternative to many of the other options downtown.

We don’t have any photos of our meals because we just couldn’t wait to eat them! Get the gazpacho bowl and fiesta bowl, you won’t be disappointed!

Great food, easy atmosphere, marvelous choice of beverages!
Jul. 2020 • Couples
Excellent all around! Unique, tasty ingredients. We loved the blue fire and the prime rib sandwiches. Good chips & pickles. And the Sri Lanka stout! We came back after an abortive attempt at a “highly rated” dinner restaurant in SSM was just awful! Service on the made-to-order food is outstanding. Try this place as a terrific cafe in SSM.

Great experience
Jul. 2020 • Family
Ken and Wilda were very helpful to make sure we had a great experience. It was easy to rent kayaks and enjoy the river. The weather was perfect for an afternoon on the river.

The highlight of our vacation
Jul. 2018 • Couples
Bird’s Eye was truly the highlight of our trip! We grabbed an after dinner drink and played cards at Bird’s Eye on Saturday night, which was a lovely way to end the evening. Then on Sunday morning, we rented kayaks for an hour from Bird’s Eye to explore the freighters near Rotary Park. The owner was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about water recreation and made us feel like friends. Definitely must stop by here for coffee, drinks, or water fun!

This place is a gem!
Dec. 2017 • Couples
There's alot happening in this one space. Excellent spot to pickup some supplies for an outdoor adventure, sure and the name suggests that. However the real fun is to be had at the bar. I spent most of my money in this establishment on wine and pork not Patagonia sweaters. The owners are warm and funny -- serving up great beers, wine and food while also just being lovely. There was always something happening at this store from ping pong, to pumpkin carving and of course their organized outdoor trips! I live here for two years and considered this business a bright spot. They are building a community at Bird's Eye so if you are in town this place shouldn't be missed!

Busy and chaotic but fun.
Feb. 2018 • Couples
Very strange having two businesses behind the same counter, but separate. I loved their IPA. It was nice to have coffee and beer at the same place. Snack was pretty good. Staff was very very friendly. Seems like the clothing stuff was all picked over. Good fun feeling though and they really managed well being slammed.

Multipurpose Place
Sep. 2017 • Couples
We did not rent equipment or book a tour. We ate! On that basic we rate the place excellent. The menu is small, but fun. I don't think you can go wrong here. They also have a good beer and coffee selection, as well as a couple of nice wines. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was congenial. We are delighted we happened on it by accident.

Kayaking Canadian Soo locks
Aug. 2017
Booked as part of package with Hampton Inn. 2 novice kayakers, but our guide Chris gave us excellent instructions and assistance. 4 hour trip from Sherman Park, Sault St Marie MI, to Sault St Marie Park, Canada, and through and back a lock on Canadian side of river. Chris was very knowledgeable about the area and very skilled in guiding us throughout our excursion. Kayaks and equipment well-maintained and served us well. Lunch back at Bird's Eye was tasty after our trip. Would recommend to anyone looking for outdoor adventure in the Soo.

This is an interesting place for outfitter needs, along with great coffee. Both bicycles and kayaks are available to try before buying.

Four hour kayak tour
Jun. 2017 • Solo
I went on their four hour kayak trip through the Canadian lock! Our guide, Rick, was very professional and thorough with his instructions. Very personable and safety conscious. Going through the Canadian Lock was beyond awesome! It is quite a tour and I would recommend the tour with this company to anyone that loves kayaking. They do a fantastic job!
