I go to Binbrook Conservation area on a regular basis. It is a beautiful park with lots of space for everyone. The beach area could use more attention, as it gets dirty with bird droppings . The fishing is not good since the water has been polluted. The swim area seems fine since it is a continually flowing stream cleansing the water. The floatable area looks like fun and is a good distance from the swim area not to collide. The splash pad is excellent for children as well as adults.
Picnic areas are clean, lots of parking, grounds are well maintained, but grass cutting should be done before and after the crowds come. A Sunday spent listening to the sound of tractors mowing was not money well spent. Parks should be relaxing , not like tanning in the middle of a construction zone. That is my only complaint.

Even if you do not need to swim, just the mere view of the lake gives you serenity that you cannot resist to enjoy it. Picnic areas are versatile and selective by the purpose you may need, shady, sunny, crowd exposed or calm and quiet. If you visit with kids they will be grateful you took them there (my grand kids were for sure talking foe days afterward)

The fish in the lake are highly contaminated with the "forever chemicals" PFAS (because the lake is downstream of the Hamilton International Airport). The levels are so high that children and women of childbearing age should not eat any of most of the fish you would catch in the lake. If you ask for information about the contamination, there is no information available. There are no signs about the contamination, and the website also says nothing about the contamination.

Took our kids to the beach. We were the first ones there and the hadn’t been cleaned overnight. It was disgusting. Garbage everywhere. Goose crap everywhere and I mean everywhere. As people came they walked up and down the beach looking for a spot to sit. 24 bucks to go sit in filth. Clearly no one that works there cares about the shape of the beach. Embarrassing, I won’t be back and will tell others to steer clear.

We buy a yearly membership at this conservation area but not for the reason that most people do. Most come here to picnic or pass away the time fishing swimming canoeing or bring the kids to play at the splash pad.
These are all good reasons to come here but in our case we do Triathlon Training here. Swim Run Bike. We don’t do all three at once every time. Some time we park here and ride our bikes out the park do a route and ride back or maybe come for just swim training.
Memberships use to be cheaper but so does d everything else. My one pet peeve is that when he conservation area is under Niagara jurisdiction so my pass is not valid for the other conservation areas in the Hamilton area farther outside of Hamilton than Binbrook!

If you're having a family gathering or a picnic it is a good place. There is lots of open fields and places to have a picnic. There is a nice walking trail around the lake, towards the boat launch area. The beach is alright, nothing special and lots of bigger chunks of sand and rocks on it. The water does drop of fairly quick so for little kids not the best. They were putting in a new splash pad and that looked good, not sure when it was supposed to open. The fishing is amazing from what we heard in talking to people but for the price of entry just for the beach, there are much better places.

Great place to go fishing and rent a boat. You have to paddle as it is a non motorized lake but that was half the fun.

No - I don’t think you are allowed to bring alcohol to any public open area

Can u ride bikes on the trails??
And is there a charge to get in if you arrive on foot or on a bike?
Written September 3, 2016
I do not know, I suggest you call the park. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Written September 4, 2016
We didn't rent one. If you type "Binbrook Conservation" into your search engine, you will find their website.

I'll just add that, while dogs are not allowed on the beach, you can still take them swimming off to the side of the beach.
