The grain mill, to which the road signs mostly refer, appears closed, but don't give up, continue up the same road for the sawmill.
The watermill was closed when we visited last week and I note that there are reviews on here from 12 months ago that it was closed then, so it does not appear this attraction is open any longer.

If you are close, go there, if not it's just old water mill and nearby is water saw mill. We were at saw mill only, because mill looks closed temporary. Nice small levada going through village and powering both facilities. Some vineyards around, very nice...More

This is an excellent place to visit for culture, history and general interest. The watermill is the last one fully working in Madeira and is a fascinating little place where you can visit for free! It is 300 years old!!
