What a view!
Family self guided tour $23 The climb to the top is Not for the faint of heart! Steep stairs but well worth the view.
Old lighthouse with accommodation if you want. Walked the Cedar Dunes as well.

Nice spot with a great view! Rooms are comfortable and the lighthouse museum is interesting. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Would love to stay in one of the actual lighthouse rooms if we ever get a chance to go back. A little out of the way but glad we stayed here.

We loved our stay at West Point Lighthouse! When we booked our stay we understood that this was in a rural setting and that an actual lighthouse had been turned into a museum. But to actually stay in the tower of the lighthouse was a wonderful experience. Why people come here and expect a 5 star hotel, restaurant, or something that is new and modern is incomprehensible to me. I guess they don't take any time to find out about the place they want to visit. If you want a quaint, authentic lighthouse experience this is place to stay. We stayed in the tower room which is the only room in the lighthouse itself. The other rooms are in the building attached to the lighthouse. It was very nice with antique furniture in the room and we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We were not interested in swimming pools, arcades or television. While there was a television in our room we were more interested in going to the beach and relaxing in our room as we listened to the waves crash upon the shore. The food at the restaurant was very good. They try to use local vegetables and fruits when possible. We loved our stay here and hope to return in the future.

This is a real gem in PEI, and I would know as I am a born and raised Islander. I spent my childhood summers in PEI on the famous North Shore beaches and never thought I would want to stay anywhere else on PEI. I was WRONG! The lighthouse is not only an amazing historical building, but a modern, luxurious hotel with all the bells and whistles. The beds were AMAZING! The views are spectacular! Every room has it's own private balcony ocean side. The hotel is spotless and the staff are warm, welcoming islanders. Amazing value for the location, comfort and breakfast. LOVED IT! Lori S. and family from Calgary.

I booked this stay on the last day of the season in 2013 for a stay on the last night of the season, Sept 14, of this year. I wanted something new and excitingly different and we sure got it with The West Point Lighthouse.

It is located in Cedar Dunes park on the West Coast of PEI about an hours drive from Charlottetown. The drive to it was along the coast and through numerous little villages offering numerous photo ops and shopping stops. For instance, we stopped for a tour of the houses made of bottles which was well worth the stop.

We were met by Chuck Bartle, the keeper of the lighthouse, and master of all that is there. He showed us to our quarters which was the tower room just beneath the actual light. It was a quaint little room which in fact used to be where the lighthouse keeper actually stayed. It is the only operational lighthouse in the maritimes where you can actually sleep in the tower itself. It is furnished with period furniture and has windows facing out from three directions. We found it very cozy, romantic and a perfect sleep inducer with the sound of the sea so close.

Before retiring for the evening we walked for over a mile along a beautiful beach which we had totally to ourselves. We picked up, beach glass, shells, and rocks to our hearts content. We also walked the beach again in the AM when the tide was out.

Breakfast was cooked by Chuck and was presented in a picturesque room which at one time had been a large dining room, but now just serves for breakfast as they were no longer serving full meals. The meal was a wonderful affair and Chuck is a talented cook as well as server and valet.

I can heartily recommend the West Point lighthouse as a destination. It is scenic, historic, and near numerous other attractions. For those with larger family groups there are several very nice motel style rooms available in the adjoining facility.

My husband and I took a week to drive around the island and stayed at several different locations. The Westpoint Lighthouse was our first stop. They remodeled a few years ago and the result was a very comfortable and nice accommodations. We had a second story room that had a comfortable bed and balcony I opted not to stay in the actual lighthouse. The bathroom isn't large but was roomy enough for my husband and I both to get dressed. You are right on the beach so taking a walk for beachcombing was easy. We drove the mile down to the Sandals restaurant which was delicious! It is a little pricey but we were on vacation and expected as much. You won't find burgers and fries there but is a casual dining atmosphere. While at the lighthouse look at the photo albums of the history of the lighthouse and the remodeling they did. Also if you can take the tour of the lighthouse the view is stunning and it is free with your stay. The only complaint we would have is the breakfast is very typical hotel continental breakfast with cold cereals, breads, hard boiled eggs and muffins. Make sure you bring mosquito spray as after it started to get dark we couldn't enjoy the balcony due to the mosquitos.

I had to choose one of the dates listed, but we have been to the Island four or five times. i family loves it. We stayed at the Light house up in the tower with our three teen daughters--junior high through high school. That particular trip was at least 12 years ago. We have not forgotten that wonderful experience--it comes up often in our conversations. We can't say enough about the wonderful people who run the place. Each time we go back, we always drive there for lunch and shop just for the sake of remembering our visit there. We still have the hundreds of pieces of sea glass we picked up on the beach. Best vacation ever!!

For a family of four, we paid $10 for entry to see the lighthouse museum which permits you to climb the 72 steps to the top of the lighthouse. Definitely worth it for the beautiful views (but use common sense - dont go when it's cloudy/rainy).

Note: we drove here planning to also stop at the restaurant but as the lady at the lighthouse desk told us, they're not in operation.

The inn (hotel?) is very nice, newly renovated, the rooms are comfortable, a good size, and have private balconies with a great view of the sea.

Great place for a walk on the beach, which goes on forever and starts a few steps from the inn door.

Breakfast is so-so, few choices, toaster not working when we went (brand-new place, inexcusable!), and service at the desk is amateurish - took forever to check in, and wasn't even really busy.

The restaurant is a short drive up the road, and it's a downright disgrace.

Unpleasant (not to say ugly), poorly laid out room, nonchalant service, mediocre menu with very few choices, non-existent presentation, so-so food.

....and this place is relatively new! They used to have a dining room at the inn, and it was bad, but at least it was on-site.

This place is much worse.

I have no idea what the owners were thinking, but they should revisit the entire thing - there's nowhere else to eat, closest place being the Tim Horton's in O'Leary, a 20-minute drive.

So by all means stay at the Lighthouse, but bring your own snacks!
