Not a large museum, but lots to see and read in the main building. Especially enjoyed the history of the WWII aircraft carrier training, and the Northwest Airlines crash. Separate building houses 3 or 4 boats you can walk around, and then one at the...More

Quick trip to the past to see ships. Not a huge amount to see, but you view some history. Biggest attraction is to board the old sail ship and view the deck and lower one as well. Nice to chat with the in character staff...More

Museum is set up nicely. It was more my husband's thing than mine, but still nice to walk through and read. It is right on the water, so there is a beautiful view of the marina and parked boats. They also have two boats that...More

Great overview of Great Lakes maritime history. Good, short, videos as well as some good reading through out. A handful of great historical boats to take in. Would recommend 2-3 hours to tour.

So much maritime history is packed in the buildings. The Northwest Airlines crash exhibit is haunting. Took a Black river trip up the river on a historic boat with Captain John. The harbor itself is fun to walk around.

I have passed this place dozens of times when visiting South Haven and finally stopped! Great little place and reasonably priced (five dollars for kids under 18.) It features lots of local maritime history, and since I am a native of South Haven, I loved...More

Happy you stumbled upon the Museum! Next time you visit, try one of our other on-water experiences this year--the tall ship Friends Good Will or the USCG 36460 motor life boat! Thank you for your review!

Like smaller, interesting, slightly-quirky, museums a-la Americana?... Go. Not into that sort of thing?... then you should know better to begin with, 'cause it's exactly what it appears to be. Lots of info/history about...wait for it... Michigan Maritime stuff. Wife and I loved it. You...More

Interesting displays of life on the lake; commercial fishing, ship wrecks, the missing NWA flight, and search and rescue ops. Don't miss the "barn" where you can climb up to a platform that overlooks a couple of the rescue boats. Very nice staff who are...More
