This Park sits right on the highway so there is traffic noise! However, at night with A/C running we could not hear it. From the Park, you can easily access the TART bike trail and ride to town (about 4 miles). Our site was level...More

My bad. Was in a rush and didn't read the reviews before booking for 2 nights. Needed a tent site with electric for cpap. Not always easy to find! May be an ok location for tight, trailer parking style camping, but really not suitable for...More

Great location for doing things in Traverse City. A walkway takes you over the highway to the beach. Lots of traffic and airport noise. The outlets in the restroom closest to our site weren't working. I didn't try the outlets in the other restrooms. Nice,...More

This was our third and by far the worst camping experience. First of all, it's right by right 31 so all the emergency vehicles going to Traverse City hospitals, or out of town, go right by this campground. Do you like airport noise? Choppers fly...More

We love Traverse City and everything they offer around the Fourth of July so we chose to stay here. Sites are smaller than most State Parks, but we knew this going in. Everyone was friendly and we had good neighbors. The kids really liked the...More

Well, on 7-25 we checked in. We reserved the lot for three nights. There was a very rude younger girl with brown hair who checked us in. My boyfriend and I had clearly specified that this was our first time here. We asked, where is...More

I have stayed in this park many times in the course of some 15 years or so. It has a few pluses: Proximity to a beach, to a great bike trail and to downtown Traverse City. It is not a wonderful camping location, per se....More

I've camped at quite a few state park campgrounds, but this is one I took a pass on. Any campground located along a busy highway in the middle of a town as over-developed as Traverse City is not my idea of an idyllic retreat. Give...More

I camped here last summer in a tent and it was perfect. The bathrooms are pretty gross, that is my only complaint. One of the bathrooms was already re done but i camped closest to the old one. So look to see where the newer...More

The state park backs up to the TART trail. So you can do miles of snow shoeing. Just google TART Traverse Area Recreational Trail for maps. Amazing location.

They do fireworks twice. Once on the 4th and once at the end of the Cherry Festival. So it's nice to see the fireworks right downtown, but then it's a good alternative to watch them the 2nd time from the bay across the... More

The parking lot and entrance close, but if you're walking over from the park nothing and no one will stop you.
