I bike to the state park on a regular basis. It has a nice beach and swimming area and a lot of places to eat and hang out. IT has nice walking and biking and cross country ski trails. You can start there and bike around Lake Bemidji.

The park is great for Biking, swimming, walking & hiking. The bog walk is nice but long waking distances and not good for kids and seniors. Also, the people who work there and park rangers are the worst in Minnesota. We will never go back this park again.

We were visiting friends in the area and stopped by the park to do some geocaching. Nice hiking trails, especially the bog walk. We did not camp, but the park looked very well maintained.

We enjoyed wading across the Mississippi River at the headwaters. Our dog especially since she had not been allowed in the water for a week really enjoyed it. A very interesting interpretive center crowned the visit.

The best part of Bemidji State Park is the long, white sand beach. Great summer swimming. It is a short walk from the day use area parking lot. There are also lots of trails and good X/C-skiing in the winter. I highly recommend the bog walk. I did this short hike once on a drizzly June afternoon and was rewarded... More

About 20 miles outside Bemidji, Lake Itasca is the starting point for the Mighty Mississippi. A scenic drive out takes you to a very clean, modern and informative visitor's center. Adjacent is a nice gift shop with reasonable prices. The walk out to the headwaters is easily navigated on a clear trail. The headwaters themselves belie the river they form.... More

The Bog walk was the reason we decided to stop in to this park. It's about a mile walk from parking to the start of the actual walk, but it was kind of neat. Basically a big boardwalk out into the marsh. Wasn't much blooming when we were there though.

Very friendly ranger at the main entrance to the park. We purchased the MN state park sticker at this entrance, it is good for a year and it is $25 for non-residents. Many nice trails. I was particularly impressed by the bog walk trail (about 2 miles total). There is another trail that also includes a short boardwalk through a... More

We have now seen the headwaters of the river we have boated on for over 50 yr. Amazing to see -- so glad we made the detour. We have been to every major city along the river. Purchased one of our boats in St. Paul, MN and traveled down the Mississippi River to Two Rivers Marina IL (281). We have... More

This is a super clean state park where biking and hiking is popular. The Bog Walk is a must see, in addition to fishing near the piers/beach and walking/hiking/biking. HIGHLY recommended if you are in the area!
