Aerial Lift Bridge is another must see when in Canal Park. You can walk across the bridge to another lighthouse or walk on the sandy beach on the other side.

It might not seem like a huge attraction, but it's worth heading over to the Aerial Lift Bridge. Take a walk around Canal Park and listen for the bell ringing to signal that the bridge is moving. We saw it when a fairly good sized fishing boat passed from the lake into the harbor. While we were on The Duluth... More

It is a "must see" if you are going to be in Duluth. It is an awesome sight day or night - rain or shine.

No only can you watch it raise to let the tall ships go through, you can also walk across it when it comes back down.

What's better in the eye's of a 3 year old and a 30 year old than seeing a bridge raising up as a ship passes by? Nothing. This was a highlight of our Duluth trip.

Mesmerizing to watch when it lifts up to let the ships through...and it comes in handy as a landmark for when you're walking around in Canal Park...looks cool at night when lit up.

A young soldier girl from St Paul at Burntside Lodge, Ely, MN, told me to stop at Canal Park and see the sights, one of three favorite Minnesota stops, she said. I already had booked my hotel at the Park Point Marina only two years old, built on the oldest marina in Duluth. What luck!. The drvie took me through... More

the bridge is just beautiful. My husband tells me that it lifts as a result of an elevator. Don't know if this is true but it closes to traffic, and the entire road/walkway lifts up to let ships go through.

We visited it via the scenic byway and had a great view from the top. It was a beautiful drive. Great for the whole family.
