History comes alive on the Lakefront line of the North Shore Scenic Railroad! During our summer season several trains a day depart the historic Duluth Union Depot for a trip through downtown Duluth, Canal Park, along the shore of Lake Superior and deep into the majestic north woods. Fully narrated tours tell the history of Duluth, the harbor, and the stories of the railroads that built northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

we are sooooo fortunate to have the North Shore Scenic Railroad museum in our midst. we only live 70 miles from Duluth. we drive down that steep hill and, as my mother always would say, 'oh Duluth, my beautiful Duluth.'

My husband and I celebrated our 60th anniversary with a trip on the Mystery Dinner ride. We were not disappointed! The meal was really good, and it was fun to interact with the actors. I even guessed the murderer! We had enjoyable tablemates(a young couple...More

This was not a good experience overall. We were excited to board a train to view the scenic colorful vistas of the north shore. Instead, we were between Lake Superior with occasional glimpses of the lake, but on the land side of the train there...More

The train does not really show you much. It backs up, then goes forward, backs up, switches the engine around, backs up and finally goes forward back to the starting spot. We spent 1/3 of the total time stopped so you don't really travel very...More

This review, although great, is not for this railroad. You traveled on the Lake Superior and Mississippi Railroad, which is a different operation than the North Shore Scenic Railroad.

We booked for a Sunday - the signs to the parking were visible, but once we actually got down there, we had NO idea where to park. We were expecting a "free parking" lot as mentioned, only to find a Permit Parking Only/ Contract Parking...More

I have taken the Two Harbors trip twice this year. Both times we had to wait over an hour on the train tracks to be shuttled into town by a bus. Barely had time for lunch. "Fall colors" not very scenic, coach smells very musty...More

It wasn't very "scenic" but it was a cool experience and it gave good history on Duluth. I've found that the Vista Fleet gives a lot of the same information about Duluth but, it's a cool trip anyway. Would recommend.

The North Shore Scenic Railroad Music and Pizza train goes right up there as one of the worst experiences of my life. Booking the tour was easy and it wasn’t overly expensive, and it was easy to find the depot in Duluth. However…. We stood...More

It really depends- If you go to the Visit Duluth site they have a link to a DNR site that notes the peak time. Right now they are at 50-75% peak- and depending on the weather they may be past prime. However- even if they... More

I doubt it and didn't see any dogs. The staff and volunteers at the Railroad are very approachable and would be able to answer your question by e-mail or phone
