Typically busy, the North Shore Scenic Drive is always a visually appealing road to be on. That said, I can only stake claim to as far as the Split Rock area. I’m certain the travels further north are just as, if not more, spectacular. One...More

When I first started visiting the North Shore, there was no bypass and while it is convenient and faster, the scenic drive is really beautiful. There are some nice shops and restaurants, although they are probably missing the traffic. When I travel to the North...More

A trip up Hwy 61 is always something to look forward to! First stop would be Russ Kendall's for famous smoked salmon. There are many opportunities to stop at the state parks and various other locations for short hikes. I would suggest purchasing a book...More

We had a great drive along this route. There are lots of places to stop and view Lake Superior and there are quite a few local restaurants. Drive from Duluth north on this and you will see some beautiful scenery.

Most of the drive you are right next to the lake. The views are breathtaking! We always stop at Emily's and the Great Lakes Candy Kitchen.

The 8 hour round trip to Grand Portage National Monument includes the beautiful lakeside drive north out of Duluth. A day well spent ... interesting villages along the way too.

The North Shore scenic drive is adjoining Lake Superior and offers numerous picturesque and stunning views wherever you stop for a picture. There are many state parks along the North shore, right from the outskirts of Duluth running up north till the border of Canada...More

It's Duluth, plan for anything. Pants, Jacket & Shoes would be the best bet. Was just there last week, wore a jacket most of time. Sandles did not make it out of the suitcase. If you are going to be on the water dress... More

There is no Door County in Minnesota. I'm an ice cream freak and really didn't find any good ones along the North Shore.

We stayed at Cliff Dweller in Tofte a few years ago. It was a quaint little find with peaceful and beautiful views.
