The Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota is full of opportunities for discovery, development, and hands-on play. The Museum is many things: a mission, a place, and an organization -- but it is entirely devoted to serving children, families, and the greater community.

Settled at its fantastic location in downtown Mankato, Minnesota, the Children's Museum of Southern Minnesota features exhibits, activities, and spaces to engage all ages. From the Betsy Tacy-inspired Play Porch to the mind-inspiring attractions of the Whiz Bang exhibit, and with a towering Mankato Clinic Tree of Forts Climber so tall that it burst through the roof, there's plenty to do and see -- all within a safe, inviting, and comfortable space.

The Children's Museum of Minnesota exists thanks to the support of dozens of businesses, hundreds of families, many wonderful volunteers, and the entire Greater Mankato community. Tens of thousands of visitors have already enjoyed the Museum at its previous locations since 2009. With the continued help and enthusiasm of all who have supported us, we can't wait to put smiles on many more faces -- for generations to come.

When we visit Mankato we make sure to make a stop at the museum. It is set up wonderfully and so many fun activities. The hands-on activities are great and the exhibits are so much fun. Highly recommend a stop here..

I bought a Grandparent Membership two months ago, We have already saved a lot of money over paying each visit. It is a great place where kids roam free safely while parents and grandparents relax or participate in the activity.

There is so much to do here for elementary children and pre-school kids. There are hands-on activities and interesting exhibits. And, for the parents, a cafe/coffee shop.

Awesome variety of hands on activities that emphasize MN culture and industries. The tree house is a multi-story wonder to behold. Live plants and fish, a field to market activity zone, dress up theater, crafts, and huge sandpit play area. A perfect place to play and learn.

Loved the 3 story climbing tree, leggo table, face painting, rock quarry and farm animals. Lots to do for girls and boys for small children all the way up to 10 or 12.

Children with us ages from 1 year to 10 years old had a great time learning and playing with the great exhibits. Very interactive. Great place for a hot day and for the kids to burn off energy and parents to sit back and relax.

We had to pry our 4 and 6 year old grandkids out of the museum after almost 3 hours. They loved the climbing structure that has lots of rope tunnels connecting platforms. The deli is adjacent to raised planting beds. Both are filled with hand sewn vegetables and fruit. There are even fabric tortillas. Outside there is a hand pump... More
