Very pleasant time spent in the gardens. We were able to walk freely, the paths were well indicated, the place rejuvenating.

Great welcome at the small terrace tea room afterwards where we were able to drink a glass of wine from the property and eat homemade cakes and where everything was done to make us feel welcome. Thank you!

A lovely garden and an amazing creation when you see the photos of what they started with. It is not very large but so pretty and tranquil we spent 2.5 hours there. It is low key and a gardeners’ garden so don’t expect loads to entertain kids. The tea shop has lovely artisan sorbets and their own wine is also very good. The lady on reception could not have been more helpful and showed us books about other local gardens and suggested other places to visit. A perfect afternoon out.
N.B. I have read some negative reviews on this site and think they must have mixed this up with a different garden as the descriptions don’t fit at all.

We cycled to Les Jardins from a nearby village on a cloudy but warm day. The gardens were not busy and we were met by the most helpful and friendly lady who explained the map to us. The garden isn't large and the planting is relaxed. Previous reviews who damn the garden are obviously more keen on the National Trust's habit of preserving everything in aspic. This is a garden lovingly planted in the grounds of a house lovingly restored. It was a relaxing visit that was rounded off nicely with a tasting of their rose and red wine. If you are unsteady on your feet you won't be able to have a good look around but you will be able to enjoy the fabulous view.

Found the details online, however road-signs to Les Jardins de Sardy were not easy to see and follow, albeit this is one of the 'joys' of France, you get one sign and then basically, you are on the route and it is then guesswork. However, we finally found these lovely gardens.... the lady who served at the ticket desk seemed to do everything, she also made and served us tea after we had enjoyed the gardens and had made the cake too, she was really helpful and lovely (and understood our pathetic attempts at French!). The gardens were informal and had a lovely 'wild' feel about them, although the plants were varied and the ponds and fountain were really beautiful. The many steps were quite steep (and no handrails either - definitely not as structured a garden as you might expect on a National Trust jaunt) - so wear sensible shoes (do as I say, not as I do) and take care! However, it is worth it to see the lovely ponds with gorgeous white and pink lillies and huge koi carp. The miriad of plants were colourful and a delightful attraction for busy insects and butterflies, definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Having checked the website to confirm opening times during May (open from 2pm each afternoon) we arrived at 2.15pm on Friday 20th May 2016 to find the place deserted. A lady who just happened to be working in the garden next door said the place was closed. Sadly our French language was not sufficient to determine why. But we were very disappointed as the photographs on the website looked beautiful.

Well, if you happen to be en route from Bergerac to Bordeaux via Sainte-Foy, why not making a stopover at Vélines, were this garden is located. Don't expect oo much, as it isn't very big. It boasts of a pond with plants around it placed in a way to resemble an "Italian style", but, of course, it's nowhere near "La Fontana Trevi". There also is a Café serving some refreshments. However, if you like garden architecture, why not have a look how Italian flavour is re-interpreted in France.

Absolutely beautiful. We had a little time to kill whilst en route to Bordeaux so stopped here and were not disappointed. Breathtakingly beautiful gardens, wonderfully maintained with photo opportunities wherever you look. Well worth a visit if you’re down this way.

Beautiful peaceful garden, small enough to feel its charm without being overwhelmed. Prepare to meander and enter with the spirit of tranquilty, many places to just sit and be still or catch up with good friends or like me, your big sister. There are many planting examples for drought, and a in the large fountain pool huge koi carps come up to look at you, further on frogs in a series of lily pools.
Young guide was excellent too.

We were lucky to arrive just in time to join an American couple on an English language tour. It is true that the scented garden by the house has new growth but the tour entertains with hands on scent appreciation and the history of the house and is recovery and redevelopment will be missed by anyone who rushed round the site.

This is a lovingly restored garden in a beautiful setting. The garden is reasonably small with some lovely borders and a beautiful long pond with fountains. It is a garden built by someone who likes plants and nature ..a bit wild and natural in places but that is precisely what makes it feel so comfortable and confirms that you are not in some public, pristine, garden or park. The tea room is simple with tea/coffee/soft drinks / ice cream and their own wines (the rose was delicious and good value). Even my husband who has no interest in gardens enjoyed our morning. Thanks must go to the staff at the welcome desk who were so friendly and spent time telling us about the gardens and their history. They were also able to recommend a lovely place for lunch in a nearby village. Just be warned that there are a number of steps in the garden which may not be suitable for everyone .
