Stepping into a time warp, with genuine butter on the popcorn. Nothing more needs to be said. We go whenever we can to share in this neighborhood treasure. Tickets are anywhere between $2-$5 and the extra special treat was the combo playing in the lobby on the recent evening we were there. Great pictures line the walls, the boomerangs on... More

What is not to like about the Riverview? Great movies at a bargain basement price if you don't mind waiting a few weeks:popcorn with real butter--comfy seats--and cheesy, but cool, commercials for local businesses.

Check out the photos from the 40's! This is a discount theatre - but more! Many organizations show movies here, hold fundraisers here, etc. A great supporter of the neighborhood! And you can't beat the prices of the concessions! :)

This is an art-deco styled movie theater designed by a famous architect in the late 1940's and built in the middle of a residential neighborhood in South Minneapolis. It has been restored and preserved to maintain the architect's intended look and design wherever possible but at the same time, the latest cinematic technology and items of comfort have been incorporated... This was my neighborhood theater growing up. I've returned here through the years. I'm not into seeing movies the first day/week they're released, so this is perfect. It is a great theater - one screen with Art Deco decor. I have great memories of movies viewed here - including "Gone With the Wind" - not the original release. Prices are... More

This is the best cheap theater I've ever been to! Only $3 for nightly shows and $2 buck Tuesdays and Matinees! The popcorn has been voted the best in the area. Great neighborhood, cafe and wine bar across the road and The Blue Door Pub down the road for a burger before the show. This theater is very charming and... More

Beautiful, clean theatre with excellent screen, sound system, seats. Also cheap admission and food. They know how to move people along so you won't be late. Bring cash. Parking can be a hassle so get there early.

You can't go wrong at this vintage one-screen neighborhood theater with original stadium seating. After paying just $3 for a ticket, order the "special" at the concession stand and get a big tub of popcorn and a soda for a great price. Refills are not free, but as you watch them feed sticks of REAL BUTTER into the popper, you'll... More

Despite its discount prices, this single-screen theatre has both excellent video and audio quality, as well as a large screen. Tickets are $2-$3 and they show movies around when they are released on DVD. The popcorn there is always great, and the theater is always clean and well-kept. Also, look for special showings. They frequently show old movies like Indiana... More
