The Memorial Day service at 10:30 is a real treat for me every year. I have family interred at Lakewood. They go all out to make the service a real tribute and an enjoyable experience. The readings are great, the speakers are always interesting, the gospel music is like z concert. At the end of the service they release the... More

Lakewood Cemetery is less than 5 minutes drive or walk from the center of Uptown. For visitors it is on Hennepin Avenue, so driving straight along Hennepin from the banks of the Mississippi West , through downtown Mpls to Uptown and beyond...this was the past that the city developed from settlement days. Great Sunday morning jaunt. GATES OF LAKEWOOD: At... More

This place is amazingly beautiful. Be sure to visit the Rose Garden nearby. Also, explore the Uptown area on Lake and Hennepin.

This is a beautiful space. It is where Tiny Tim rests permanently. I have been here for funerals and other events. Their beautiful chapel hosts weddings also. The ground are gorgeous with reflection pond, sculptures and beautiful windows.

In a morbid way, very peaceful for a walk and well manicured and maintained greens. Enjoy the surroundings.

They have beautiful grounds and buildings. The setting is across from lake Calhoun and in the heart of the Uptown area near downtown Minneapolis.

As cemeteries on a bright, sunny day go, THIS is the place. Immaculate grounds, peaceful oasis in the heart of the city, readable headstones with which to ponder your mortality. I'm sure there are famous people buried here, but I don't care. Come here for the ambience with the love of your life. Just don't drink the water...

I have family here both buried and in the mausoleum. Attended a memorial service in the chapel and it was breath-taking. You always fine something new to look at. It was a beautiful day to take in the gardens. Lots of history here.

It may be strange to walk in a cemetery where you don't know people buried there, but this one is worth it. There are some older tombstones with significant Twin Cities folks (original bearers of the names of many streets in Uptown, for example) and the new buildings are modern and beautiful. The small chapel is quite the sight if... More
