This location was not on my radar as we headed to PEI over the confederation bridge. This was going to be a quick pit stop, but this provided so much more.

There were washrooms, a gift shop, a little cafe, a nature museum, a beach with great views of the bridge and a light house that I regret not walking to.

We have been to many museums and this one was very well done. Beautiful displays of nature, informative and interactive

Foot washing station was a bonus after visiting the beach.

We were just going to stop to use the washrooms halfway through our drive. $5 for parking? Sure, why not? But we also got a great view of the bridge, some interesting indoor displays, and some inexpensive ice cream. Recommended.

This is a lovely place to stop on the way to PEI or just for a drive out. It has a lot to offer and seems very well run compared to similar places in Atlantic Canada. We loved the view of the bridge, the beach and the trail to the lighthouse. The small walk through exhibit was very well done and maintained. The gift shop didn't seem to have as much interesting stock as last year but it's nice to have a browse. The whole experience was topped off with the availability of Lost and Found ice cream! (homemade in Moncton). The ladies at the small cafe were so friendly and helpful. If there was a nice restaurant with a patio it would be a huge draw to passing travelers. Do not forget your bug spray!

If you're coming to PEI, the entrance to this stop is the last exist, right before the bridge. For a nominal fee, you can park the car and enjoy a couple of trails. The one to the lighthouse is almost two hours, therefore, if you are in a rush, you may skip it, however, the observation deck is nearby and offers the best view to the bridge, as far as you can see with the naked eye. It's worth stopping as from the road itself you won't be able to see much.

We stopped in very briefly yesterday. We mainly just walked on the beach. Very scenic views of nature and the Confederation Bridge.
Planning another trip when we can stay longer to explore more of the trails.

Great information here and some cool souvenirs as well. But my favorite part was the lookout tower to see Confederation Bridge and the old lighthouse.

Hello and thank you for your remarks! We are so proud of your lighthouse, our view and the museum inside! The Centre is open again for the season, in COVID style!

The drive from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island is not short, and so having an interesting stop in between is fabulous. For lighthouse lovers, there's a stunning lighthouse there. For nature and bird-lovers, there's a lovely hike near the shoreline and an excellent nature centre. And you do get absolutely stunning views of the amazing Confederation Bridge, but bring a camera with a big zoom, your iPhone will not do. The nature centre has lots of great info, suited for all ages. We especially liked their comparison of wing-spans between different birds and humans. The only slight draw-back is that the washrooms in the Nature Centre are composting toilets, it seems: we appreciate that they could not connect to City mains, or do septic tanks in this remote, eco-friendly location. But if someone is squeamish, the toilets might be a hard sell. On the other side, if anybody is intrigued by composting toilets, this might be a draw on that account. Otherwise: a great stop!

Not too long ago, Cape Jourimain used to recieve its funding from the New Brunswick Government. Recently, the government decided to cut funding, so now the sight is maintained as a charitable non-profit sight that charges an admission fee. But it is worth the visit if you have the time. The sight provides the best photo opportunities of Confederation Bridge, arguably better than on the Island side, and has a beach that could easily rival the beaches on PEI's north shore. There is a walk-through exhibit that explains the regions natural importance as well as the historical significance and economic importance of the Strait to fishers from both NB and PEI. There are wonderful trails and fantastic sunset and sunrise sights. The facility also has an eatery as well as a viewing platform up a few flights of stairs that provides a fantastic view of the Strait. However, like much of the area, the centre closes down in the Winter and is best visited in the Summer. If you are driving to the Island and have a half hour, this is definitely worth a visit.

Note: I visited this sight in July of 2018

Even though the Cape Jourimain nature centre was closed for the season, it merits a visit. The view of the 13 km Confederation Bridge connecting PEI to the Canada mainland in NB is spectacular. The short hiking loop is an easy stroll. It felt good to be here.

Our stop here was a great way to start learning about New Brunswick. You can have a walk down to the lighthouse, climb the 3 story viewing area of the confederation bridge. A get stop to use the inside pit toilets. Lots of interesting items in the gift shop.
