Absolutely gorgeous, huge and amazing. By far the grandest old train station in New Brunswick and Maine (maybe in the entire Maritimes). Built in 1900. We stopped on a Tuesday afternoon and got a tour ($25 for the entire family) which lasted about an hour. The young docent did a great job. Got to see the entire building, top to bottom. It’s huge! There are numerous OUTSTANDING historical displays, very nicely done. We love to see places that are in the process of renovation, to get a feel for the field of historical field work. More than half of the station is in pristine condition. This includes the first floor, the formal dining room, the huge old diner, lobby, executive waiting area, etc. Some of the upstairs rooms are well-restored and give you a real feel for the old hotel, and the employee boarding rooms. Some of the upper rooms are yet to be restored. So we saw the gamut. We loved the little in-station jail (and the booking leger for it)! Staff were great. We saw a train slowly go by, as it ‘s a working railroad. We would love to return for the beautiful Christmas season. Any one who likes history, architecture or trains will love this. (The town is really cute also).

We went for the Sunday afternoon railway pie experience. Pie is great and large slices. We booked online and would go back. We were a small group and we’re treated to tales of the station. They hold these as fund raisers to keep the station going so well worth the price. A lively experience and we highly recommend it.

We went to one of four annual Christmas five course dinner and theatre show. The station was decorated as usual for Christmas with light severywhere and it was an awesome evening. Throughout the touring season we make sure that The McAdam is a must see for any guests visiting.

We didnt get to see inside except for through the glass as it wasnt open. It was worth checking out. THere is a lot of history here and still existing after all of this time is great. I hope to one day get to go inside and see the interior properly.

Although it is off the beaten path, it is well worth the trip. The guided tour was excellent and we were able to go at our pace. This station reminds us of the importance of railway in the development of the country. We look forward to returning to see the continuing restoration.

Although this is a beautiful place, but staff not friendly at all, we are tourists traveling. The day we went there was a wedding going on and couldn't see everything, ok, but the staff could of been more friendly and courteous and told us things about the place. As we were leaving a couple comes in and they right away started telling them the history about the place and other things, we left as we felt that we should not have been here which is a shame. We were so disappointed and with traveling so far to see it.

Thank you for taking the time to express your disappointment on your recent visit to the McAdam Railway Station. We take great pride in the knowledge and commitment of our Station guides in satisfying the interests of our patrons.
I do understand that there was a wedding taking place at the time of your visit, that it was an especially warm day and that you had to park in the lower lot and walk up to the Station. I also understand that the guides offered you a different rotation in the tour that would have still provided you a complete tour with the area that you were most interested in scheduled for the end of the tour and after the wedding party had departed. I am advised that this suggestion did not satisfy your expectation.
We regret that you were unable to enjoy your visit as you had envisioned and we sincerely hope that you will consider our museum on a subsequent visit to New Brunswick.

McAdam is about an hours drive from Fredericton. The station is, as far as I can tell, the only thing to see in McAdam, but if old buildings or railway history is your thing, it is worth the visit.
The restoration of the station is on going. The first floor appears to be complete. The second and third floors are open for viewing, however they are for the most part being prepped for work.
A guided tour is inexpensive and, aside from the usual railway history, will get you anecdotes about the people who lived and worked here.

My yearly tradition is to visit the McAdam Train station during the Christmas tour. Each room is magically decorated in Christmas themes throughout the main floor. This is a must if you want to get in the Christmas sprint 🙂. I would suggest visiting in the evening so you can get the full effect of all the Beautiful Christmas lights.

We took a tour of the train. The young man that gave us the tour was excellent. A lot of history in this station. I had not been here before, so I enjoyed it. I am not sure it is a place I would do twice, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of going through it once

According to their website, they are only open seasonally from July 1 to September 30, from 10am-6pm. You'd have to contact them about special events or tours for groups.
