We stopped to learn a little about the local history and were not disappointed. Our favorite was the 3rd floor which focused on the Dakota war. We spent almost 2 hours here, lots of reading involved with this museum.

My wife is doing family genealogical research and Darla, at the Brown County Historical Society, was very helpful. She found records pertaining to our ancestors and provided additional background for us. The Society has interesting historical exhibits in their museum, and the staff are friendly.

The building, itself, is worth the stop. But the further surprise is the excellent displays- some that change through the year. The Third Floor Dakota Uprising exhibit was dramatic. The doll house exhibit wonderful. GREAT book store for all books Minnesota.

Check out all three floors. Local historical items on the first floor. Early drawings by Wanda Gag and German items on the second floor. The treasures are on the third floor for a historical view of the Dakota Conflict.
