Our B&B hostess related to us that Hermann was the second largest copper statue in the US, second behind the Statue of Liberty. When we were there you were no longer able to climb to the top.

Visited this monument and German Park both as a small kid and as an young adult while in town for Bavarian Blast. Dad paid the small fee (about $3) for three of us to walk up the spiral staircase (about 80 feet) to go to the top observation deck and right below the 20 foot copper statue (one of the... More

Unfortunately, the venue was closed for the season. Still, again stop! We shall return and cough up the $2.75 to climb to the top.

We had a spectacular view of the city of New Ulm from on top of the monument with Hermann. The cost is $2.75/ person and requires climbing many steps. It's not for anyone that's afraid of heights. The view is amazing. It's an older building, but seems to be holding up well in the elements. Right next door is a... More

It is a cool monument with lots of German history. The view from the top is breathtaking and worth all the steps to get there.

Interesting monument with a German twist. You have to drive a little way up to the high ground overlooking the city.

This is a very large monument of Hermann, a Cherusci German, who symbolizes German-American heritage. There is a very large statue of Hermann on a large pedestal. The monument is closed as of October 1st but the statue can still be seen from outside the fence.

There is a great view of the city from the top of the monumen., When I read about the monument I didn't think it would be as large as it is.

Nice Pavillion, Herman provides a spectacular view of the city and also a grand vista of the Minnesota river valley as well as a view of the beginning of the western prairie.
