If you are into history these tours are very informative. If you like architecture this home has plenty of it. The holiday tours are very cool, Christmas especially.

Our Christmas tour started at the History Center of Olmsted County. While waiting for the short video introduction of Mayowood, we perused the exhibits relating to the county's development since prehistoric times...an ambitious undertaking for a county historical society. While the exhibits were pretty basic, and they covered everything from the difference between Mastodons and Woolly Mammoths to World War... More

We went to the Christmas tour last year. The house is decorated as it would have been when Charles and Edith Mayo lived there. The house is a work of art in it's self, but especially so during the holidays. I love history any way and the restored gardens and the continued renovation of the grounds is exceptional.

If you're a history buff and lover of historic homes, this is a must-see! I've lived around the Rochester area my whole life and honestly just never took the time to visit. Now I'm wondering why??!! Beautiful grounds, loads of history and some amazing tour guides. I will definitely be back, maybe during the fall for the colors? :)

The Mayo Mansion is beautiful, especially at Christmas time. The University of Minnesota Master Gardeners have worked for years to restore the Mayo Gardens to their original splendor.

I love seeing Mayowood. If you enjoy learning about history and you want to learn more about the people who devoted themselves to healing, this is a good tour. Interesting to see how these folks lived and to step into their world for an afternoon.

I had family in town visiting, so I wanted to show them some of the Rochester history. I checked the website and it looked like there was a $5/person admission to the museum and the grounds, no mention of days it was not open just the hours, so it appeared that it was open most of the time. We did... More

If you can spare and hour or so, this is the Mayo family estate home and grounds. A visit here is very interesting and assists one in gaining a real feel for what the family was like and how they lived life away from the clinic. It is well maintained and left for the public to experience with much of... More
