We found out that the U of M Showboat was in its final season and so we procured tickets at the last show. The energy of the cast and crew and the quality of the production was unsurpassed. We had a wonderful, and hilarious, time at the event. I hope that the concept continues in another venue in the future,... More

Under the Gaslight is a predictable melodrama enthusiastically and earnestly presented. What makes the show, as in past productions, is the sequence of olios in between scene changes. The second half pulls out all the stops. Farewell Showboat and thanks for a delightful afternoon!

Attended Minnesota's Centennial Showboat's performance of "Under the Gaslight!" I believe that it is the same performance that was featured when the Showboat opened in 1958. We are not sure why it is the final season but are sure we will miss them. Last performance is August 27, 2016 so you better hurry to get the few remaining tickets.

Fun musical theater, great for Seniors. Beer and wine is available. Our group was really glad we saw the play and could then speak with the actors, after the show.

My wife and I recently went to the Minnesota Centennial Showboat to see Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with her mother and sister. The play was light entertainment and very entertaining. The U of M students who put on the play are very talented. I actually liked the musical Olio's between the scenes as much or more than the play.... More

While planning a weekend getaway to celebrate a wedding anniversary, I happened upon the Minnesota Centennial Showboat. A melodrama version of Jekyll and Hyde was playing, and having seen a couple of melodramas in the past, it sounded as though it could be a fun part of the weekend for my wife and I, along with our teenage son. We... More

Performers are University of Minnesota students who do a good job of singing and acting and having fun. The audience hissed and booed on cue. Play interspersed with vaudeville which is entertaining by has nothing to do with the story line. Good experience overall and nice views of the city across the river from the showboat. Still signs of the... More

Great show, lots of fun and energetic numbers. The Jekyll/Hyde show this summer is entertaining and the sets and costumes are top? Beautiful sunset views of the Capitol at intermission during the evening show. Well worth the price.

There's a certain novelty to the Centenial Showboat, (which doesn't actually go anywhere, it stays moored at the dock). The thing to remember is these are all student performers, so the quality varies. The costuming is usually pretty amazing, considering they have the U's budget for the costuming and sets. I prefer professional productions, where you don't have characters in... More

The showboat itself is a great part of the attraction. It is intimate, comfortable and visually pleasing with an historic feel. We saw talented actors who were also excellent musicians. I can hardly wait until we can make it back for another show. One concern: In the wintertime, access can be difficult for moderately or severely disabled people due to... More
