This is a great state park in the Twin Cities and well worth the visit. The hiking trails are great (my favorite is Pike Island) and we almost always see deer. They have some great programs throughout the year like the Fort Snelling by Candlelight...More

nice trails, fishing, hiking, biking, along the Mississippi, Lots of shade, trees, nice picnic areas, beach. Lots of people but its big enough to not feel crowded

We have not gone into the water at the beach for a very long time. But it I recall there are people there in July swimming, I suggest that you check with the Park Office as to the conditions.

We saw tons of dogs on the trails.
