If you refer to the frequent maps (or print one), this is great way to get around St Paul's downtown area on foot without going out in the cold or rain. Many (if not most) small businesses that cater to downtown workers (coffee shops, lunch restaurants, convenience stores, dry cleaners, etc) have migrated up into the skyway, leaving the actual... Unfortunately there have been many problems lately in the St Paul Skyway with thugs beating people up. That's probably why the doors have been locked at night. Locked doors are problematic for people unfamiliar with the skyway. They expect to re-trace their steps when returning to the origin and can't do so when the doors are locked.

We stayed at the Double Tree Suites and were able to walk the skyway to Wacouta event center for a wedding. I felt pretty safe but we always walked in large groups. It is a blessing to have to not walk out in the cold. Caution...after 9p.m. the main doors were closed. We found a bar in which we could... More

You can buzz around down from the St. Paul Hotel to the Union Station and other side points of interest without worrying about the weather. A friend and I did this daily while living in lowertown in the Northern Warehouse Artists' Coop.

This is best used during the Winter time. You can walk all over Saint Paul and not have to set a foot in the snow or out in the cold.

Convenient to get around Saint Paul when the weather outside is bad. There are many nice areas with shops and restaurants. Late at night it can be a bit deserted, and one could have safety concerns in certain parts of the system due to the clientele.

I both walk and use a mobility device to travel the skyways. There are so many places to shop or eat, dry cleaning etc. I do hope that once there are tenants in the old Macy's bldg that the vacancy rate goes down. I would also be nice if the stores all had their addresses over their doors so I... More

This is a great way to get from one area to another especially in the winter time with iffy weather. It is a pleasant walk and you can find entrances to shops and restaurants along the way to your destination. Its warm and safe even at night.

Long corridors interconnecting blocks in a sometimes convoluted fashion make the system sometimes confusing, especially when one detours around blocks without pass-thru properties. Some concern for people of color, loitering claims, and a general lack of public facilities for relief or reasonable accomidation for those who might need to sit on their journey from point A to B. Note that... More

I say this is not really an attraction but a pedestrian instrument. A big long lengthy handy one too. Actually the Saint Paul Skyway has various walking paths. Don't call it MSP. or get the mistaken notion that Minneapolis buttsUP directly with SAINT PAUL. there is 8 MILES and more between downtown ST PAUL and minneapolis. Another good feature of... More
