Rice Park is a small park between the Landmark Center and the library. There is a statue of F. Scott Fitzgerald in one corner. Also a couple statues of the Peanuts gang around the park. Marcie reading a book on a banch while Peppermint Patty kicks a ball.

Arguably the most attractive urban space in the city of Saint Paul. The park is quaint and is flanked by the beautiful Landmark Center, the impressive George Latimer Public Library, the historic Saint Paul Hotel and the fabulous Ordway Performing Arts Center. There are several great nearby restaurants. The area is especially stunning during Christmas when decorations are on display and the outdoor skating rink is in operation.

Surrounded by the Landmark Center and the historic library, this open space is inviting and a great place for wedding photos.

This park and area made my heart so happy! Chuck Shulz was born and raised in St. Paul, so you get to see statues of The Peanuts around the parks (incredibly nostalgic). The upkeep of the flowers, fountains and grounds are in great shape! Definitely worth the stop!

If you plan to tour the downtown area on foot, I suggest you start in this park. Located across from four St. Paul landmarks (Landmark Center, the Ordway, the St. Paul Hotel and the Central Library) and within blocks of so many other attractions this a great starting point to begin a walk. Rice Park is a busy center of activity at weekday lunchtime, but also is often the sit e of weekend weddings and various civic events like concerts. A fountain that has a bit of history with it is in the park, along with a statute of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Some characters from the cartoon strip Peanuts are also on a bench of their own on the far eastern side of Rice Park..
Speaking of characters, this park is the home to a collection of them - a colorful food vendor offers you hot dogs, you will see brides/grooms from weddings that are well attired, the ever present seedy looking panhandlers offers you an urban noir look, while the sports fans on their way to the nearby hockey venue display their various over-priced but stylish jerseys as they rush by you and the well dressed opera patron watches what they are stepping around as they travel though this urban park. All off these types can be seen if you are at Rice Park at given times. Joining the human traffic are pigeons and squirrels, eager to take any food you may have to offer them as they beg for tribute as you pass through their domain.
Full of traffic noises and some homeless, this is not paradise but it is an interesting starting point to sample urban life in today's St. Paul.

Whether it's winter or summer, Rice Park has a lot to offer. It's right next door to the Ordway Theatre, and some of the best restaurants in St. Pau. Go ice skating in the winter, or sit by the fountains in the summer. I love it!

Central downtown park, small but a nice place to sit outside for lunch in summer or walk through at night when the trees are lit up.

It was minus 20 celsius - body freezing soul warm - from warmth of people, beauty of scenery at the winter ice festival - Minnesota is unbeleivable and Rice Park in St. Paul in the heart of it - not to miss in life - advice: Come around 4pm, make sure you have lots of small coins to "glue" to the ice - put on every warm clothes you have - enjoy the food, Drink Cider, wait for darkness to fall and you'll get a multicolored show on the HUGE ice castle, beautiful sculptures of ice - not before you listen to some live music - So come early, Cover yourself finger to toe to nose to ears, bring cents and nickels and talk with the friendliest people ever, go farther to see the sculpture of Brooks - coach of the 1980 US hockey (Miracle on Ice) team - and try to gets tickets to Wild Minnesota Wild Ice-Hockey Game

The Winter Carnival is different every year. If you are expecting a large ice castle, you may be disappointed. Plan on going and enjoying whatever is present. The amount and depth of ice sculptures changed from Saturday morning to Sunday morning, and Saturday night with the lights gave yet another dimension to the sculptures. This was punctuated

I always enjoy walking through Rice Park before a hockey game or event at the Xcel. Some times- Ice Sculptures, other times the fountain is going! Beautiful Christmas tree at Christmas!

I usually park in the ramp next to the Saint Paul Hotel which is right on the park, but when there are a lot of events such as during the winter carnival you would have to go further from Rice Park to find someplace. There are many parking ramps in the downtown area so I wish you luck.
