From the side of scenic 61 you get two different perspectives of the falls. Walking upriver, there is a path down into a beautiful scene, the river pools and the path continues leading to stone steps. In the winter, we call them the steps of doom as they are iced over. This leads to a fun part of Temperance, climbing... More

We have stayed here in the summer and we are now visiting in the winter. It is great In any season. The are great hiking trails. The waterfalls and river are great. The shore and waves are great too. It is also right Tofte, you can even bike there.

Without a doubt one of the best waterfalls on the north shore drive. I love the hiking paths here and the campsites are great! ( which is why it is almost impossible to get a site in the summer) We are north shore veterans and have been coming up here for 30 years. Today is our 29th wedding anniversary, what... More

Gorgeous scenery and a not particularly challenging hike made this a lovely "entry level" hiking excursion for our first North Shore trip. Would highly recommend!

This is a beautiful park. The main waterfall is a short distance from Highway 61. You don't even have a park permit to access the main falls. Park right on Highway 61 and wall into the park. You will need to be willing to climb stairs and hilly ground to reach the main waterfall area. There is a bridge over... More

We parked on the side of the road and took the steps/trail down to view the falls. Still as beautiful as I remember it. The trail is well paced but can be dangerous for children/elderly. Definitely worth it to walk down there though. Wish we would've had more time to explore the rest of the park, but we were passing... More

We did the roadside stop to see the falls that runs right under Hwy 61. We walked down the stairs on the Lake Superior side. Stunning! Minimal walking and stairs make this an easy stop.

People of average hiking ability can do this short hike and see several waterfalls typical of the north shore. Path is wide and well-defined, but has an expected amount of vertical climb.
