Besides the beautiful falls, which has multiple levels you can hike to, there are lots of rocks sticking out of the water (at least when it's not running high) that you can hope across to get different views. My kids loved wading in some of...More

Beautiful Falls at Gooseberry Falls State Park are a must see. Although, too many take it upon themselves to walk all over the rocks and into the falls themselves, as if this is what one is supposed to do! When I visit beautiful, natural falls...More

We had a one night camping trip on our way to Isla Royale. Our trip was in August. When we arrived it was raining a little bit so we ended up doing a bunch of hiking early on the trip. During the middle of our...More

Gooseberry is a right of passage while on the North Shore. There are always lots of people, so don't expect it to be a "peace and quiet" sort of experience. Hike around, even pack a snack or a lunch and find a spot to sit...More

Take a gorgeous summer day and trek the falls, be prepared to dip your toes and enjoy the streams and falls. There's lower falls, middle falls and upper falls - with great trails to hike and gorgeous vantage points. We waded in the streams and...More

Excellent place for a rest stop, visit, camping, a picnic, or a hike! Be sure if you are going to do a longer hike to bring water as you can hook up to the Superior Hiking trail. Beautiful!

Falls are very nice...lots lots lots of people. Go very early or late in day. Campground sites are nice and secluded. Visitor center is ok to below average for the amount of people at this park. Probably wouldn't visit again. Once is good enough. Nice...More

The waterfalls were nice, although in August 2016, they were lacking water. Several areas were handicapped accessible. For someone like me who is used to crowded national parks, Gooseberry was a pleasant change of pace.

The easy answer is this: the highest levels would be after a significant rainfall. I don't think the water flow is controlled by a dam upstream. Sorry I can't be of more help. Call the visitor center for a realistic answer... More
