This is probably one of the best museums, and area of Southern American History I have ever been to. I mean everything about the life of Confederate President Jefferson Davis is here, or as much as you are willing to explore and learn about the Confederacy. The tour guides/ volunteers are very knowledgeable of their history, and the area is... More

This was an interesting way to spend two hours while visiting my son who was stationed at Kessler AFB. I must say that I really didn't know much about the confederacy before. I now know a but more of the history in this area. The home is a beautiful example of a very wealthy home in that era. It also... More

The museum had some interesting pieces, like letters, old pianos, shot guns and flags, but didn't really go in depth on any one subject, or maybe it did, we missed a room because the lights were out as maintenance was doing some work. The house tour docent was depressing, like he had done a million tours and just wanted to... More

Great tour of Beauvoir. Loved the history and the details that was poor into the tour. The tour was a bit short and not a great deal of info about family, but did provide a great job on the general. Grounds very nice. It was worth the money.

I am a Civil War buff so I thought a visit to the home of the president of the Confederacy might be interesting. The home is typical of southern homes of the mid 1800s. Also, they have done a remarkable job of repairing it after substantial damage during Katrina. However, the tour really is about the house and not much... More

Texture Our visit consisted of a tour of the mansion and other facilities once owned and occupied by Jefferson Davis. The guide was extremely knowledgeable as to every bit of history, architecture and tradition of this site.

We spent 3 hours touring Jefferson Davis' home, the cemetery grounds and the awesome Jefferson Davis Presidential Library. The addition of the now-open library to this attraction is a great addition! It was not only enjoyable but very educatgional.

This annual event is great for grandparents, parents and especially kids. Two day event on the historic grounds of the Jefferson Davis grounds. Scottish themed events include food (I like fish and chips) jousting, bagpipes and culture music. The Boarder Collies show how to move flocks of sheep with voice, whistle, and gestures. Replica of old tyme village. It's an... More

Of course Katrina raised havoc with the estate, several of the out buildings have been reconstructed. The main house is still under going some renovation, however several rooms have been completed. Be sure to take the guided tour of the house, about 30 minutes or so, but very educational. Also be sure to watch the film, again about 3o minutes.... More
