Whilst staying in Lillebonne I happened up the Roman Arena close to the town centre. It is a clean and tidy site with much of the Roman stone work still to be seen. It was free to enter when I visited and I was given...More

We stopped here on the way to Dieppe for the ferry. Was surprised to see how well preserved it was, considering all that has been done to it in the past. Even better, the weekend we were there was a 'free' weekend, so no entry...More

Didn't see any kind of a gated entry to this attraction. You can pretty much see 95% of it from the walkway on the street overlooking the theater anyway. It's worth exploring the grounds though and hearing the acoustics and seeing the views directly yourself.

This was built in the 1st century and was destroyed by the barbarians. The day we visited, no one was working the ticket booth, so we got in for free. There is an entrance in the front on the left hand side, and there is...More

This is one of many attractions Normandy doesn't seem to shout about but we aren't sure why. Some background - Back when Normandy was Gaul, Lillebonne on the river Seine was an important port and called Juliobona by the Roman occupiers. It was perfectly placed...More
