About
Temporarily Closed - Norwell Nurseries and Gardens have been established nearly twenty years and the garden now contains over 2,500 different plants, many rare and unusual. The gardens are free to look round whenever the nursery is open (apart from a few charity open days when there is a small charge). We specialise in herbaceous perennials, grasses, woodland plants, cottage garden plants and have the largest selection of hardy Chrysanthemums for sale in Europe. We are not a garden centre and so only sell plants, these have been propagated from the gardens. The gardens are open to guided tours (fee required) and we have coach parties coming from all over the country. We are included in the prestigious Gardens to visit 2013 guide and the online Gardens-guideIf you are interested in plants, gardens or just an inspirational, peaceful, relaxing setting for a summers afternoon come to us. There are tea shops and an excellent pub for food just round the corner.

I visited especially for some rare plants that I had seen that they stocked online. One unfortunately had sold out, but the helpful staff member recommended a very similar one instead.
A refreshing change from the bigger garden centres that you find, as here they stocked many more hard to find plants.
As well as the nursery section, there are some lovely mature gardens to wander around for inspiration.
Remember to take cash or cheque for payment.

I had a wonderful hour at this nursery and garden. It’s a stunning little garden, with a friendly welcome and a super coffee that I could enjoy in a little hidden nook in the garden.
I bought a plant from the nursery as I left and was delighted to be given a smaller version for free!
I highly recommend it. It’s a wonderful small business.

Love this place, although it's difficult to come away without a purchase as there are so many unusual plants at reasonable prices. The owner has a wealth of knowledge, and is always willing to give advice if needed. The gardens are wonderful, a real inspiration if you are looking for ideas, or just a lovely place to relax and unwind.

Norwell Nursery was recommended to me by Don Witton, the holder of the National Collection of Euphorbias. I had seen Anemone nemorosa 'Viridiflora' in Don's front garden and asked where he'd bought it, and he referred me to Norwell. The garden at Norwell is very interesting in itself, with island beds brimming with shrubs, herbaceous perennials and bulbs. Towards the back is a beautifully laid out woodland area, one of the best I've ever seen for inspirational planting. I spent a long time looking around there. There is a large pond and on the day I went, a moorhen was taking her newly-hatched, tiny black chicks out for their first swim, showing them how to hide amongst the marginal plants at the edge.
The nursery is packed with unusual plants, many for shade but plenty for open ground. I was spoilt for choice and was only restricted by the amount of cash in my pocket (they don't take cards, only cash or cheques). The plants are displayed on the ground, so it's a case of stooping as you walk, to see the labels, but it's worth the effort. So many gems. I'd definitely visit again, with more cash next time!

Some unusual plants in a beautiful garden with great advice. We have been here several times over the years and it is always worth the effort of finding it.

Many thanks for this our first review on Trip Advisor and also thanks for getting us off to such a good start! We are so glad that that you have enjoyed your trips here in the past; although we are closed for the winter at the moment we are busy trying to improve the gardens and will have an even greater range of plants to see this coming season.

I combined this with a visit to the nearby Japananese Garden and Medtiation Centre, as we were traveling from Sheffield. It is full of interesting plants that you won't find in your general nursery. There are plenty of things to stop you in your tracks! Help is on hand from the owner if you require it. I will definitely return and linger a little longer.

Passion is an overused word these days but in this instance it is the perfect description for a 'real' nursery run by enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. I had ordered several chrysanthemums in January and went with a friend to collect them in April. Andrew had kept them protected for me after such late frosts and they have transplanted into my garden beautifully. This nursery is very special with a tempting selection of unusual plants in mint condition and the most inspirational landscaping to really get you going!

Went here last summer for a return trip and was (very!) pleasantly surprised to find a new cabin-type building providing self-service drinks and home-made cakes - this was the icing on the cake (literally!) for this lovely nursery. As a nice touch they leave you to help yourself and put your payment in an 'honesty box'. Always get helpful tips and info from the lovely helpful owner. Lots of unusual herbaceous plants to pick at reasonable prices -
will definitely be going again!

No, it’s free to look around the garden (apart from 3 afternoons a year when we open for charity). We are just happy to share it and hope it gives you pleasure.
