The Jasper County courthouse, built in 1898 is a beautiful piece of architecture. The grounds are beautiful but don't miss going inside. The first floor is basically a museum. Tells a lot of history about Route 66 and also Carthage's role in the Civil War

Didn't have the opportunity to go inside but got a few pictures during dusk. Very grand and well maintained site in the heart of the square.

It appears that this building was one of the inspirations for the building featured in the Back to The Future movie series. The architectural history is fascinating and the building features many fascinating displays. Well worth a visit.
