This is a fascinating peek into a time capsule masquerading as a Steam Boat. There are so many items marvelously preserved. There is a little bit of a tour explaining the background and a little movie. My 9 year old was enthralled.

One of the best museums I've visited. What's especially the amazing is the fact that the men responsible for excavating the ship are still actively a part of the museum and frequently hang around to talk to visitors.

We were amazed by the story of the Steamship Arabia. The amount and quality of the items found buried inside were just phenomenal. Definitely a must see.

We had two hours to kill in Kansas City and this fit the bill. Amazing look into the 1850's. Grrat story and treasure hunt. Kids had a great time and will recommended to others in the future.

Incredible story of a family and a couple of friends that had the wild idea of digging up a steamboat that had been sunk in the 1850s. We learned so much about what the early settlers needed to set-up their homes.

We really enjoyed it! Tour guide, Hip, was excellent! He not only told the history of the Arabia Steamboat, but incorporated local history from the era. It was an added bonus to have a member of the family who excavated the Arabia on site to...More

This week, I helped chaperone a school trip here with about 60 eighth graders. This place exceeded our expectations and everyone had a great time. So many cool things to see and knowledgeable people to talk with. Don't miss this one!

This is a time capsule. Not only can visitors see the artifacts recovered after years underground, but they can watch as the restoration process continues. Very interesting film relating the pursuit of this lost riverboat and the resulting recovery efforts.

Thanks for asking. It is true that the admission cost for seniors is $13.50. Officially, we recommend about 90 minutes to do the whole tour, but as NOELKAT9791 pointed out, many folks can spend several hours. There's a... More
