This is a great thing to do for young and old alike. I can't say enough about what an amazing story. The artifacts are in abundance. It's like getting to see what Walmart looked like in 1863. Don't miss the stop on your trip to...More

I wasn't real keen on taking the tour because I thought it would be boring. I wasn't bored. To think a family with a couple of friends made this happen, didn't pillage the treasure, and made a carefully designed museum, was awe inspiring. Our tour...More

If you are a history buff, you need to make sure you visit this museum when you're in Kansas City. Visit the City Market afterwards for more fun.

The Arabia Steamboat Museum is a real surprise. First, the amount of cargo on this boat was huge. It provides a glimpse of the goods available to people in this area - cutlery for the table, dishes, tools, chandeliers, sewing machines, and more. The story...More

We had not heard of the Arabia but a family member suggested we check it out. It is located on the edge of River Market and is a walking tour. Tickets are purchased in the gift shop, and the tours leave periodically though the day....More

A nice little surprise! This museum gives you a little splash of US and Midwestern history that we are not used to. . The tour guide, Emily was very efficient, friendly and knew her stuff!

Unbelievable how much there is to see here!! It made the visit very special as some of the men who had discovered the boat were there to tell about it. What a great way to see history!!

We were glad that friends from Michigan suggested this museum. The result of the excavation of an 1800's sunken steamboat, the museum displays thousands of objects that were contained in the tons of cargo extracted from the ruins. Painstakingly cleaned and preserved, these items give...More

Let me start by saying I am not a museum person. But this is a must do. It is not large and doesn't take hours to get through. It is such an interesting story. The first 15 minutes or so are narrated (she was good),...More

Great stop. Got to visit with one of the actual excavators of this project, Jerry Mackey. He started all the Hi Boy restaurants in the area. He has tons of knowledge and stories to share. Felt very blessed to spend time with him. The museum...More

Thanks for asking. It is true that the admission cost for seniors is $13.50. Officially, we recommend about 90 minutes to do the whole tour, but as NOELKAT9791 pointed out, many folks can spend several hours. There's a... More
