To be truthful, when my hostess told me we were going to the steamboat museum, my reaction was lukewarm. Was I in for a treat, however. The story of the family that unearthed the Arabia and the history of the mid-1800s that goes along with the steamship was fascinating. Tours are frequent. The guide gives a quick introduction and a... More

Family of 6 ( wife husband kids aged 5 9 11 and 16) attended during a day visit to town. We all had a great time...price did seem a bit high for admission ( $15 adults - $6 kids), but we enjoyed the experience al the same. Will be back for another visit in a few years I'm sure.

What an amazing museum. The staff is well informed of their history of the Arabia and steamboat travel up the Missouri River. The video of how the steamboat was unearthed is very informative and having the family that unearthed it on hand was an added bonus. The amount of items that saved from the steamboat are amazing.

I've been to the museum 5 times since it opened. With each visit I find more and more interesting items to explore. Often, some of the original ship finders are at the museum, and are available to visit with personally. It is a really fun experience.

This is probably one of the most interesting museums I have ever seen. The steamboat Arabia sunk in the Missouri River and found in a cornfield with its cargo intact. Everything from pickles to tools and clothing on its way to market is there for you to see. The fascinating results of a modern day treasure hunt!

The museum shows a short film that represents the search for and unearthing of the boat. Also included is a short history of the riverboat purpose and use. After, you may meet one of the original investors of the find and have a chance for a Q&A session. It was very enlightening of both the history and means of discovery... More

Was fascinated by al the articles that were recovered. The short video was informing and the people at the museum were friendly. Looking forward to other finds of this family.

What an incredible surprise this museum was. Our expectations were exceeded 100 times over. I have no reservations about stating that this was one of the most impressive historical presentations I have ever seen, and even so much more incredible when we came to understand that it exists because of the efforts of a group of dedicated individuals, not a... One of our friends wanted to go to this. I did not look at any advance information. I have to say that I was quite surprised at the quality and quantity of the exhibit. The family that undertook the task of finding the steamboat "Arabia" buried deep in the ground are to be commended. It is quite amazing the amount... More
