This is a very old tea factory. They still use the old methods to produce their tea, that's why they have season production. You can visit the factory and taste their tea in the end. The view over porto formoso vila, small fish harbor, ocean and landscape is absolutely amazing.

Lovely tea factory that offers a free tour and free tea tasting. They take you through their factory and explain the process for manufacturing tea, then offer you a free cup of tea in their main seating area which is in a lovely modern stone room. The whole tour and tasting takes approximately 30 mins.

The visit is short but nice. Free and with complimentary cup of tea at the end. Staff is kind and helpful. Our 6yo even asked questions so we were glad to have brought him. The factory only operates April to September but the visits are year round - we just don't see the equipment in motion. We also had more... More

This is the smaller of the 2 tea plantations with a more intimate feel and lovely grounds. If you come early, go to the tasting room and ask for a private tour, then sip complimentary tea ( can also pay for the stronger blends or other drinks). It's a quick stop on your way to Furnas or beyond.

Porto Formoso is smaller and more intimate than the Gorreana plantation down the road. Fantastic view from the house and you can go and visit the very tea plants. Production walkabout is offered, as well as a small sampling of products. Only black tea offered: orange pekoe, pekoe and broken leafs.

modern and spacious entrance hall with video and museologic pieces, a complimentary tea os offered to those who do the full visit to the factory. Attendants dress in old fashioned manner and a simple explanation on the history of the tea and the factory are provided. Tea rooms outside provide a marvellous view of the surrounding tea crops
