A hiking hotspot, Parc national de la Gaspésie gives visitors access to an extraordinary mountain environment. The Chic-Chocs and McGerrigle Mountains cross the park. Among them, Mont Jacques Cartier is the second highest peak in Québec. The altitude of these mountains deeply influences the climate that moulds the landscape and creates a diversity of species unique to Québec, and even the world. Arctic-alpine plants and tundra landscapes form a habitat for a herd of woodland caribou, the last representatives of this species south of the St. Lawrence.

We decided to do a quick cross country ski run in the park in the Boussole area. The mountain views are just fabulous all over the park. We were a bit disappointed because the trail was flattened by snowmobiles. We much prefer the two ski traces left by skiers. It is more stable. We did have a magic moment when... More

Thank you for your comment. Parc national de la Gaspésie offers 3 trails of groomed cross-country ski trails. The Mont-Albert sector receives over 3 m of snow annually. It is well-distributed between mid-December and mid-March, making for excellent snow conditions all winter long. The Boussole area is more for backcountry skiing where the trails are marked but not groomed. Our... More

When travelling on a schedule, weather does not always cooperate. We drove to the park from Ste. Anne des Monts which takes about 30 minutes. There is a Tim Hortons on the way out off town to grab a coffee. The gentleman at the service desk was kind and direct. He offered two hikes as the fog was really thick... More

My husband I tented here. The site was green, pretty and nicely spaced away from others. Lac Cascapedia is walking distance. Nice beaches. People were swimming and kayaking. Small store with the essentials. Showers $4 for 4 minutes. Not all of them worked, however. Worth the bit longer drive to stay here.

Thank you for your comment. The Lac Cascapédia campground offers a quite spot to relax. The lake is perfect for fishing, kayaking, canoeing. You can also hike the Pic du brûlé or the Piic de l'Aube. We hope to see you again in the park. More

A two hour (70 minutes of you are fit) walk up a good track to see the caribou. Absolutely worth it! Take some good binoculars or give yourself the time to find them and walk out a bit. The park bus either goes from the info centre 25 minutes south of Sainte Ann des monts on the 299, or take... More

I would suggest training ahead of the visit though the Lac Aux Americains hike is the easiest, it is a rather steady uphill walk but I managed to make it pushing a stroller. Facilities are clean but rustic. Trails are well managed and patrolled. Many families and younger and older couples also seen on the trails, hidden gem in the... More

Perfect! Takes 30min from StAnne so started pouring 5 min after we arrived at the tent and checked in the next morning. The tents are a fantastic option for young kids cuz it's all there. There's solid wood beams and size of two King size camping beds in its own tent inside. A big table with comfortable chairs. Big counter... More

Thank you for your comment. Our Huttopia are very popular. This camping offers the joys of camping without having to bring your own equipment. They are located in the heart of the outdoor and discovery activities. For July and August, it's better to reserve as soon as possible. We hope to see you again ! More

We came to see Moose and were successful, we saw 3. We did the Mont Ernest-Laforce trail loop, but all of the moose that we saw were in the lower areas of the trail. Also the higher we got on the trail the worse the bugs got! hope this info helps. The view from the top of M.E.L. is very... More

We are pleased that the moose were there for you ! The mosquito season is started. The rain in June allowed a large amount of mosquito to be in the park this year. We must therefore bring a good mosquito repellent for the coming weeks. More

We were looking forward to coming to this spot to see moose- mission accomplished! We did the mont Ernest-LaForce trail and saw 3 moose, one at a distance, one very close, and one fairly close. We arrived at 8 am to make sure that we arrived before crowds and those that are more likely to make noise. The moose that... More
