Very interesting historical site.

This was recommended to us by the guy at the Lewis & Clark Boathouse Museum. I'm so glad he told us about it. Very interesting!

A visit to old St. Charles Main Street area has something for everyone. Charming street with lots of quaint stores, restaurants, wineries, huge park, green spaces, Katy Trail, River, etc. We paid for the hour long tour of the site of the first Missouri Capital. Our tour guide was nice and knowledgeable, although tour would have been better if it... More

Toured and learned about Missouri's First Governors, saw the rooms that they used for State business, and learned more about St. Charles being the First Capitol of Missouri.

We love this place every time we go. This is a way to step back in time and envision the way things were when Lewis and Clark were only thinking about their famous trip up the mighty Missouri.

The First Missouri State Capitol building in St. Charles, MO is an amazing building, built in the late 1700’s. Go to the Info Center building next door and see the exhibits regarding St. Charles as the first Missouri State Capitol. The history displays are well worth reading and the staff is very helpful. The history of the first capitol is... More

If you want to teach children about life in the lat 1700s/early 1800s this is an excellent tour. You will see a store, living quarters and the first state capitol. The tour explains the origin of the saying "sleep tight" and allows children to touch and feel different artifacts.
