When we lived around here it was always one of my favorite places to go. There is a huge spring with crystal clear water, in which you can watch the huge trout swimming. There is a fish nursery and you can see the trout in all stages from very small to ready-to-release. You can put a quarter in a machine... More

Whether you are looking to fish or gaze at wildlife, this is the spot for it all. You can take a stroll down paved walkways or even take a short hike along the rivers edge. Natural beauty is the display Meramec Spring offers. You like history! Good! They have museums located within the park.

Maramec Springs is a shining example of why nature should be preserved. Even as an active trout fishery, the springs themselves are a natural wonder most never get to see. I can't remember the gallons per minute that this baby pumps out, but it is absolutely a must see. You can walk along a path all the way around the... More

The second day of Spring we decided to make a family outing to the park. We enjoyed that there was access for our stroller to maneuver around the park as well as the park being dog friendly (as long as the dogs were leashed). The park charged a $5 fee per vehicle, and we felt that the fee was nominal.... More

My family has been camping at St James for 20 years. Beautiful park with lots of history. The price of camping keeps going up but no updates are ever made. The bathrooms are dirty and out dated. Sadly we have had to make other arrangements.

Too many visitors miss the essence of the park. They will see the park and take walks around the spring. Want to expeirence the park instead of just visiting? Start out at the museum and get a grasp of the parks real beginnings of pre Civil War days. Then walk through thd park and see the layout as represented by... More

A beautiful place to visit, camp, fish!! The staff who work the fishing/tackle/ticket office are super friendly and helpful. The area is truly beautiful. Whether you drive to the top, or just walk around the lower grounds, BREATHTAKING!

You can walk along the beautiful path to the source of the spring, which is gorgeous! You can also see the multitude of trout that are raised there, as well as feed them at various points along the way by putting a quarter in the machine and getting a handful of feed. When you toss some into the water you... More

When my youngest boy was a toddler, I would tie a rope on the back of his little life jacket and take him to Maramec Spring Park to see the massive spring rise out of the rock.

Great trout park; easily accessible from St. Louis and central Missouri; easy access off I-44; great helpful Department of Conservation staff; easy access to the water.
