With the mission "to ignite and sustain lifelong science and technology learning", the Saint Louis Science Center is one of the top five science centers in the United States, and has been named one of the Top 10 Science Centers for Families by Parents Magazine and one of America's most visited museums by Forbes Traveler Magazine. The complex includes over 56,000 sq-ft of interactive science-technology exhibits that are part of the Science Center's free general admission. Opening in June 2016 is GROW, a one-acre outdoor exhibit that will take visitors on a journey of food, to gain a deeper understanding of our food supply. The Science Center's ticketed areas include the OMNIMAX, a four-story IMAX Dome theater; the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, one of the world's largest planetariums; and the Discovery Room, an activity area for families with younger children.

The SLSC has a ton of different areas. We really enjoyed the Maker area and the illusions. Do NOT miss the planetarium! The show is 25m and the host really makes it entertaining. Tip: Get to planetarium early (it's a 10m walk) and get a mat to lay on the floor, lay perpendicular to walls. The food court has great... More

We're so glad you had such a good time! Our new Makerspace area has proven to be very popular, and you picked up on some of what makes our Planetarium so unique. I'll let our food service partner know how much you liked the meal selection and prices. -John Wharton, Managing Director of Facility Operations More

There's lots to do for kids and maybe for some curious adults. The free admission is also a big plus. It can get crowded on weekends so get there early. Make sure to visit the Omnimax for a show; the D-Day film was very good. They offer a military discount for the paid attractions.

very nice science museum. (We went to one in Des Moines and they are similar.). Very good for kids 4-14. Lots of activities to do and build. Older kids may like if they enjoy science. We spent 3 hours here without going to a show or extra add ons. Could easily be all day activity if you have never been... More

There isn't anything good about this, it's dinky and there's no questions why it's free. Pretty much any other city has a better one.

Lord H- Sorry we so starkly failed to meet your expectations. As it's extremely rare that we get a low mark from TripAdvisor visitors, we'd love to know more about why you didn't care for us, beyond your view that we're "dinky" (despite our public space being over 150,000 sq. ft. in two, three-story buildings spread across a quarter-mile, and... This place is great for young minds. It teaches STEAM and its for all ages. omnitheatre and planetarium were there too. Worth a trip just for kids to explore and let loose. Kids loved the huge dinosaur and the makers area.

This is a place for the whole family. There are so many exhibits and interactive events you can spend the fill day in the two connected facilities. This includes an IMAX theater and a planetarium with a laser show. nominal price of admission and right across from Forest park

You're making us blush, John; thank you! I do want to clarify one thing - the laser shows we had been doing in the Planetarium were brought back for its 50th anniversary in 2013, but are not on the schedule at this time. However, our popular star shows await. -John Wharton, Managing Director of Facility Operations More
