This is one of the finest pieces of mosaic artwork that I have ever seen. The interior walls and side chapels are covered with intricate mosaics. Beyond being the seat of the Archdiocese of St Louis, this is truly a landmark in St Louis. Check out the Central West End shops and restaurants while in the area.

Short and sweet! Go see this place. It is beyond description in these reviews. Take our review thoughts, multiply by 100, and you still won't capture the magnificence and solemn grandeur of this building - inside and out. Even if you aren't religious, you will still be impressed by the fundamentally spiritual experience.

This is a free thing to do with family (older kids best imo). Lots of mosaic work everywhere that is just excellent to look at. Look up, look around, go where you can go. Even the basilica itself is cool. I just thought about how much effort must have gone into building it and now to maintaining it. Please be... More

This has to be the most beautiful church I have ever been in. I am Catholic but would recommend it to anyone The inside is breathtaking. When I walked in I felt a peaceful calm come over me. I have never experienced that before. I actually spoke to the priest who was present and told him how I felt. He... More

I am not Catholic, but have been to the Basilica countless times, have taken every guest who has visited me over the past number of years. In every case, each person has thanked me, been blown away at the beauty of the Basilica, and affirmed that it was a highlight of their visit to St. Louis. The millions of mosaic... More

My husband spent a full day in St Louis on a road trip. I saw this on TripAdvisor and we decided to to see it. The inside was just beautiful! It was well worth the short drive to the church. The parking was tricky. We ended up finding an alley which led to some church parking.

We took a tour of this masterpiece. It is breathtaking. It is reputed to have the largest mosaics in the world. There is a nice gift shop as well.

This is the largest cathedral in N. America. It took 7 years to build and another 76 to finish the beautiful mosaics that cover the inside ceiling. Dome within a dome and the pillars are made of 7 different kinds of marble. They do tours which are informative. However the guide we had was extremely stuffy, opinionated, pompous and VERY... More

Good opportunity for a quiet break. There's parking behind the cathedral. All entrances seemed open during open hours.

I was amazed by this church. Here it is in St. Louis, Missouri, and it compares favorably to many of the well known cathedrals and churches that I have visited in Western Europe. I'm not claiming that it is in the top tier, but it is not far behind. The mosaics in the interior are truly a sight to be... More
