My husband is an avid Ghost Hunter TV show fan and was pleasantly surprised when we met up with friends for one of the ghost tours featured at the castle. They have the group sit and listen for a bit at the beginning to get the history, which I enjoyed, then the groups split a bit to explore the castle.... More

We attempted to find the Pythian Castle and it was impossible to see due to construction. We tried different roads and we just could not get close to the castle.

This place was really cool and interesting! It's haunted, they say. We took the Saturday night ghost tour. It's about an hour long and you get to go all over the castle and even through a tunnel with the tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the castle history. I didn't see any "ghosts" but my camera picked up a... More

We went to the castle it was very neat and informative. The lady that runs the tour is the owner and she and her daughter live there. She has found out a lot of the history about the castle. About when it was built, the Knights of Pythian, the orphans and senior citizens that stayed there, the WWll prisoners, the... More

My sister and have lived locally for years but had never seen the castle. We decided to go check it out yesterday and we're pleasantly surprised. We had no idea the 100+ year old castle had such a diverse background. The owner and docent was very friendly and shared wonderful stories of orphans who lived there in the early 20th... More

Pythian Castle has a wonderful history... much of it was completely unknown to us prior to our visit. From the original Knights of Pythian orphanage to the current uses, there is and was a lot going on there. The role the facility played during WW2 was most interesting to me.

This is a great story to hear. From Pythians to foreign prisoners of war, this castle has seen some history. The backstory was great but not a place to frequent often.

The tour of this castle was good. The history is rich but the current owner is unsure of where to take the castle. The decor is not of any era, it's kind of cheap. But if you ignore those things, the history of this building is pretty unique. I'd recommend it but don't show up too early, and you will... More

Despite arriving 45 minutes after the advertised opening time, we found the road leading to the castle chained off and a "CLOSED" sign attached. Since there was a public parking lot next door we parked and got out to take some pictures of the exterior. We were still about 200 meters from the castle when a lady ran out, stopped... More

My husband and I decided to stop and take a historical tour of the castle on our way from Wisconsin to Texas. I found the tour informative, I had never heard of the Pythian's before. I loved our tour guide, she was amusing and seemed to really enjoy showing off the old castle. If your looking for a professional tour... More
