Mysterious ancient woodland and fern-clad streams; intriguing timber-framed buildings; sunken lanes created by Saxon drovers and Tudor iron masters; and the South East's largest heathland Ashdown Forest. The 1461 square kilometre area covers parts of Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

Beautiful area. Glad I've been but would not return because... .. the roads are often narrow and the 'locals' (mainly from London apparently) drive fast and impatiently. Driving through narrow high streets with cars parked on one side and 2 cars trying to get through...More

Drove from Egerton to Uckfield stopping in some wonderful villages, Sissinghurst, Cranbrook and Burwash the scenery along the route is superb, definately a place to spend some quality time.
