Nice little interpretive center with information about the Lewis & Clark Expedition through this area, and the history of Fort Benton area. Outside, a nice park with a trail by the river. It was quiet, pleasant weather. There were duck families swimming on the river's edge and across the way, pelicans. From here go downtown and visit the bridge that... More

There is a good 20minute movie to begin the visit, lots of interactive exhibits that are entertaining as well as informative. Well worth a visit whether you're a visitor from out of state or a native Montanan.

Because we visited Fort Benton in the off season of February, very few of the museums were open. The one exception was the Missouri Breaks Interpretive Center. The exterior of the building itself is beautiful, and designed to reflect the white cliffs along the Missouri River. The inside is smallish, but it’s well done and is staffed with helpful people.... Relatively small, but very well done museum. Very interesting details about the area wildlife, geology, and history. The details about the river transit and related innovations were particularly interesting, and even in a family of history buffs everyone learned some new information. The location and museum building itself are impressive. Lots of great info/literature about the surrounding sites and other... More

Visited here before paddling the Upper Missouri River and it was very helpful to obtain maps and get an overview of what Lewis and Clark did and what to expect. Great film, don't miss it!

bout like what you would expect. Center nice, displays. informative. However, I came to canoe the 14 miles of the Missouri. The Park sent information on licensed outfitters and the services that they provide. I checked with these vendors before starting out 30 days ahead after initial contact 60 to 90 days prior. Both times told by all vendors not... More

This is another wonderful center by the National Park System. Great film on the area, excellent display of the local animals, paddle ship, and covered wagon used in the expedition!! Clean restrooms, staff helpful!! Only drawback was that they sold tickets to the other museums in little Fort Benton and you had to by a ticket that cover all the... More

In Winifred, MT go East on DY Trial 17 miles on a well maintained dirt road to the ferry landing. ANY car (even a Prius) can make the trip. Great views once you get there. Well worth the dusty car.
