What a wonderful day! We started the morning looking for a great grey owl that had been seen in the area. And found it. It was beautiful. During the rest of our time we also spotted elk, many bison - they are not hard to find- lol. Pronghorn antelope an otter and some other raptors. The weather was mixed but when it was not cooperating we got to see other landmarks and learn more about the park. MacNeil is very knowledgeable, fun and friendly. He went above and beyond. The floods in the park had complicated our visit and he work with us to find ways to still make our tour possible. We would recommend MacNeil and Yellowstone Insight to everyone visiting Yellowstone.

MacNeil Lyons is the reason that we extended two family vacations to the north part of the Yellowstone. Both times, we stayed in Gardiner (shout out to the Sunny Slope Lodge - SO fantastic!!), and both times we did early morning tours with MacNeil’s company. ABSOLUTELY THRILLED with the results both times! (P.S. - My husband and I have also done two wolf watching tours with MacNeil in March of different years. Truly a couple of the best experiences of our lives). Can’t recommend Yellowstone Insight enough!

We had an awesome day with MacNeil on June 1. Making the reservation was easy via email and his website has a lot of good details on what to expect and how to prepare. The day before, MacNeil verified what we were expecting out of the tour, and planned the things appropriately. We had multiple sightings of our wildlife wish list (Black Bears, Grizzly, Wolves, Moose, etc.) - and MacNeil also provided some tips on other wildlife that we could search for on the days after the tour. His focus is on customer satisfication - but through a lens of what is best for the wildlife. Since we prefer to be away from the crowds, MacNeil had us climb some hills across from the parked cars where we experienced awesome views that you just can’t get at the road level. He routinely asked about our comfort with the hikes and we always felt safe. His equipment is top notch and his knack for finding animals is second to none. MacNeil is a joy to spend time with - it’s almost like talking with an old friend. We asked tons of questions about Yellowstone, Grand Tetons - and life in general - and the conversations were just as rewarding as the wildlife viewing. We are already planning a Winter Trip with MacNeil to see Yellowstone in a different light. We can’t imagine a trip to Yellowstone without spending a day with MacNeil and Yellowstone Insights.

MacNeil was great. Weather was less than ideal and yet we still had multiple great photo opportunities. Highlight was seeing momma bear and 2 cubs. MacNeil knew just where to park, just where the bear would go, just which tree to focus on that cubs would climb. He's an expert. And his stories aren't to shabby either.

We couldn't have asked for a better day! Our private tour with Doug was the highlight of our trip to Yellowstone. We saw so many animals in Lamar Valley that were not even visible with our binoculars. But with the high powered spotting scopes Doug set up for us at each stop, we were able to see wolves, black bears, grizzly bear and cubs, badger mom and baby, pronghorn sheep, bighorn sheep and more! We were provided with warm, welcoming coffee and great snacks in a clean, comfortable Suburban. Doug is very knowledgeable and fun to be with. Great day and wish we had scheduled more tours with Yellowstone Insight!
