Bruce is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately like last time we found absolutely no gems which is highly unusual. Bruce did give us a couple gem to walk away with but we will ho to a producing mine next time.

Spent all day mining with my husband and daughter. The staff is very helpful, wanting you to walk away with great finds. This mine is the real deal. You process your own stones from the same mine that the owners use. It isn't fancy, no bags ready for you, with gems added. Be ready to get dirty, work hard, and... More

What amazing and inexpensive fun! As I had three teenagers, a twenty-somethinger, and me, this wonderful experience was less than the cost of a movie. AND WE BROUGHT HOME SAPPHIRES! Bruce was wonderful, very patient and helpful, and he spent time with us to make sure we could find sapphires. AND WE DID! We had so much fun there, all... More

Me, my wife, and my 5 year old went and had a blast!! From the moment we got there, Bruce treated us so well it felt like we were family. I can't thank Bruce enough for the epic day we had! Having never mined before (but used to hard work), he walked us through the steps, and when I told... More

This was one of the jewels of our vacation (pun intended). I came with my wife and 3 kids and we hadn't a clue what we were doing. Bruce was so helpful and ensured that we 1) had a good time and 2) that we were able to recognize and come home with a few sapphires. Prepare to get dirty... More

My husband and I visited Bruce June 19th and 20th. Bruce gave us a tour of the mine and spent a lot of time teaching us how to find and recognize a sapphire. His mining operation definitely gives you the opportunity to find Montana sapphires if you are willing to put in the work. We came away with some beautiful... More

I have been looking forward to going here for a while. This place is a lot more work than the more touristy places but I was able to come away sore and feeling accomplished. Bruce and his family are awesome. Friendly and helpful as they come. On this particular trip I really wanted to find a cutable garnet but didn't...... More

We spent an afternoon here with the kids mining for gems. Bruce is wonderful! We found sapphires and a garnet of cuttable size, very exciting! Very enjoyable, expect to be a bit tired and dirty by the end ;-) Highly recommend as a family activity!

My wife and I took our three children (7, 10 and 13) to the Montana Blue Jewel Mine in August. It was so much fun for all of us. Bruce had a large group engaged in a fee dig (note, not "free dig" as one previous reviewer seemed to misinterpret) when we arrived, but he did an excellent job of... More
