This was a beautiful cruise down the river through an awesome canyon with towering cliffs. Very relaxing. The boat driver was very informative of the area and pointed out the wildlife and flowers along the way.

The guide told a lot of great stories from the history of this area. We took the smaller, open boat and we're glad we did. The guide stopped at a picnic area and we were able to explore for a short time. We also had...More

We booked tickets in advance and we were pleased we did as it was a sell out. The guide made sure that we all got to see the things of interest by turning the boat round to give all a view. The knowledgeable talk given...More

I'm a Lewis and Clark buff, and have driven I-15 between Helena and Great Falls many, many times, wondering just what the canyon 'over there' was like, since the interstate avoids it. Really enjoyed this two-hour tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable in biology, history...More

We took the boat tour and saw lots of animals, stopped for a picnic and saw Indian drawings! If you can I think renting a boat would be more fun but either way it's an amazing sight!

Meriwether Lewis named this part of the Missouri River in 1805. We can see today much of what it was like then when on the Gates of the Mountains Boat Tours. There's history, geology, wildlife, some of it nesting! There are legends, pictographs, and humor,...More

I've taken the Gates of the Mountain boat tour many times over the last twenty years. Having a knowledgeable guide enhances the trip. Don't be surprised if you see goats or deer. They show a spot where they speculate that Lewis and Clark had camped...More

They have two boats. The smaller of the two will hold approximately 26 and the bigger at least 10 more. I hear they get busy in the summer, especially on weekends SO, although not necessary, reservations are a good idea.
