Must See While in Helena

Free attraction! Lots of free parking and some great history about Montana. Tour guide very informative. But after an hour younger kids will get bored.

Amazing day. 10,000 plus turned out to speak for justice, fairness, and equality. The Capitol was the perfect setting for this display of unity.

Was at the capital this past week and witnessed the huge March, had to be at least 10,000 people come and go. Great to see people get politically active, even if I don't agree with them all.

Attended a session of the Montana State Legislature. It is always a pleasure and educational to take part in our states legislative process.

The Capitol building is a must see if you stop in Helena. It's access is one of the most liberal, and for a donation (or none at all) you can get a guided tour of the entire building g with folks who know a ton of history about the building!

Park in front and walk past a statue and climb the steps to the entryway. The guard will give you a self guided booklet that describes the architecture, artwork, and workings of the senate and legislature that is in session every other year.Make sure you see the 12 foot by 24 foot mural in the senate room painted by Charles... We were only at the Capital for a brief amount of time but it was beautiful inside! We went to share the celebration of the "Governor's Arts Award" ceremony! What a lovely celebration! We sat in the balcony on the third floor and had a perfect view of the room! The seats were not made for people over 5 and... More

There is a self guided tour of the building. Many state offices are housed in the building. The Secretary of State, in charge of Business listings, and voting as well as many governor offices, even a post office near the south entry. The rotunda has restored art, and both houses has public areas to either watch (spring of odd years)... More

A must stop if you're visiting. Great for family to explore how our local government runs. Art details are amazing.

Definitely worth the stop. Beautifully preserved building. Recommend you take the tour, which was very interesting.
