A real pleasant surprise, we got to wander the halls of the Capitol building and do a self-guided tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

Well worth the visit. We were invited to join a tour in progress. We saw the senate and house chambers. The domed ceiling has paintings of local interest. A Charles Russell mural adorns the senate chamber front wall.

Very majestic building with pillars on the front sides and lions on the side entrance! Marble structures and displays with the Montana history explained. Liberty bell on the second floor. You are able to see legislation creation in action. People were courteous and professional.

I didn't expect much when I walked in, but I was blown away by the detail, especially in the rotunda. Gorgeous and a must visit when in Helena.

I'm a huge fan of capitols. They present the state to its people and to outsiders. Montana's is lovely. There's no security to go through, just a nice guard who pointed out the self-guided tour pamphlets. There is a sign saying "no guns", which we...More

The Montana State Capitol in Helena is absolutely beautiful. We're visited in June and saw the senate and old Supreme Court rooms. The house was not open. The interior design of the building was beautiful. Not the largest state Capitol we've visited but set on...More

All capitol buildings are similar, but each is unique. Montana's capitol includes many fine materials and lovely interior detail, as well as a good sense of the history of the state. We were free to wander, including the supreme court, house, and senate galleries even...More

I am a fan of capital tours, and sadly, was there before they began for the day. They had a pamphlet with enough information to do a self tour. It was well written, and I feel I learned a lot. Congresswoman Rankin, first female to...More

We had a little time before our flight from Helena, and decided to take a look at the State Capital. The Capital building was open to the public, free of course, and very easy to walk though to see the artwork, statues and great architecture.

You need to go to the capital's website for this info, they do not hold session every year.
