We recently spent most of an afternoon visiting the Bair Family Museum in tiny Martinsdale, Montana. The real reason for stopping in was the fact that this stretch of Montana Highway has very few and far between rest stops!! In fact, there were none after we left the National Forest campgrounds and we were somewhat desperate in finding one! When... More

We drive to the Bair Family Museum last weekend and enjoyed every minute. The tour of the Bair family house was such a treat with Ethel Berg as a guide. The artwork in the museum is stunning - and fun to see where it hung in the house. Loved every minute and it is well worth the drive.

Happened to be in Montana, and was referred to this museum. To say it's in the middle of no-where is an understatement, but the museum, Bair house, and surrounding land are all beautiful. The curator's were very friendly and knowledgeable, and made the whole experience entertaining and informative. The museum is small, but has some great paintings, photographs, drawings, and... More

The Bair Museum has another fabulous Ledger Drawing exhibition from the Barstow Collection from the MSU Billings Library's Special Collection. The entire collection consists of 66 drawings by members of the Crow (Apsáalooke) and Hidatsa (Gros Ventre of the River) who were together on the Crow Agency Reservation in the 1880s and 1890s. The 20 ledger drawings in the exhibition... More

Take a tour of the rambling Bair family house and get a glimpse of the way they lived and their unique family history. The new museum building is beautiful and houses some amazing collections. Gorgeous Native American beadwork and drawings... Plus an incredibly impressive amount of Charles Russell, Joseph Henry Sharp, and Edward S Curtis works, among several other well... More

Visited here on a day trip from nearby White Sulphur Springs, what a pleasant surprise. The docents are extremely knowledgeable and the displays are wonderfully put together. A definite stop while in the area.

We have been touring around MT this summer and our campground recommended we drive the 40 miles to visit this museum. I must admit we were not familiar with the name so did a bit of research before we left and all I can say is if you are anywhere close to this 'gem' be sure and stop. It is... More

A visit to the Bair Museum has been on my MT bucket list for years, My friend and I made plans for a day trip to drive over to Martinsdale from the Helena area, a distance of about 100 miles. What a treasure chest of history, antiques, stories, and beautiful countryside. The Bair Museum was almost closed but the community... More

Don't miss this gem. The museum is small but contains wonderful paintings, exhibits of vintage native american dresses/shoes and quill art. I didn't get the opportunity to tour the home because I didn't allow myself enough time. (Dont make my mistake and underestimate the fabulousness of the place). Don't be put off by the short trip you will have to... More
