Founded in 1975 and accredited by the American Association of Museums in 1987, MAM is a nonprofit museum that serves the public by striving to engage artists and audience in the creative exploration of contemporary art relevant to our community, state and region. MAM’s exhibitions showcase diverse and thought-provoking work from local and international artists. MAM manages over 1,300 works in its permanent collection which is distinguished by the Contemporary American Indian Art Collection.In addition to developing and hosting over two dozen exhibitions annually, MAM is home to quality educational programming including a diverse array of art classes, film screenings, literary readings, musical events, performances, and artist lectures. This is another place my husband and I always visit while in Missoula visiting the family. It’s a small three story building near the center of town. Parking on street only but has never been problem. Free admission but donations appreciated. Coat room and bathroom...More

This museum is very well laid out, spacious and inviting. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable... unfortunately, "modern" art is not our cup of tea, which the exhibits were this time. We would still recommend the museum.

MAM is at the center of Missoula and Montana's vibrant art community. There is always something interesting and beautiful to see. To experience what is unique about Montana's culture, place the Missoula Art Museum at the top of your list!

I really love this venues first Friday shows of every month. They do a great job of locating and displaying artwork from all disciplines of art making. I love the architecture and upcoming sculpture art coming soon!
