We enjoy this preserve. There are a number of nice walking trails and access to the Bitterroot. We enjoy going there to fish and have a casual picnic with our dogs.

We were also there about a week ago, and had a pleasant walk in the woods. We saw no wildlife at all. This looks like a nice flat place to walk your dogs.

We spent a couple of hours in the preserve and we're richly rewarded. We saw a nesting pair of osprey with chicks in the nest, as well as numerous hunting osprey. Also saw many king birds, cedar waxwing, swallows, warblers, and heard many other birds...More

A wonderful place to see such beautiful scenery. It is a bird watchers paradise with many ample opportunities for photographers to get some beautiful pictures. Recommend a visit here.

It doesn't matter if you're a birder, hiker or just plain like a good walk in the woods - this is a perfect place for all three! For wildlife viewing, it's best to go early in the morning; that's when they're out. But, no matter...More

Nice walking trails, with one right along the Bitterroot River. If you don't see everything on your walk, a stop at the visitors' center will give you a look at photos and stuffed animals.

Walked the path, talked withered rangers inside. We saw many deer and quite a variety of birds. Plan on spending an hour or two to fully appreciate this place.

I took my new camera to this little oasis. Saw beautiful streams and lots of waterfowl. Stopped and took plenty of pictures. It was a great day.

Living just a few minutes away we are spoiled. A great place for several, easy, flat terrain walks through big pines and cottonwoods. Lots of wildlife, water fowl and breath taking views.

You would need to check with the refuge itself. I would doubt it, though. There are specified trails, and the main one is built to be accessible, so paved most of the way. Much of the refuge is marshy or composed of... More
