Tucked away about 7 miles up the river and off US 2 on NF 508 are Yaak Falls. The falls are about 10 miles from the Yaak River Campsite along the Yaak River. The area is quite remote and beautiful. In addition to the adjacent...More

We drove Yaak River Road from US#2 to town of Yaak MT. and back, which was a nice scenic drive. Stopped at Yaak Falls, a nice small waterfall next to the road. Saw the Dirty Shame Saloon in town of Yaak.

We stayed at Pete Creek campground in site #7 and it was great. There was a little trail to the creek and you could walk down to the "walk in" sites and there was a trail to the river. There was a great, calm little...More

Beautiful river. We were in town for a wedding and loved walking to the river just to watch it and the wild life all around it.

Great road of a very isolated area of Montana. Chance of seeing grizzlies, caribou and the regular deer, black beers and elk. Stop at the Dirty Shame Saloon in Yaak for sure.

The Yaak River is another reason to love NW Montana. Everything Yaak, is great... the river, the falls, the surrounding scenery, lots of wildlife, no cell phone service. The bars... Yaak River Tavern & Mercantile, The Dirty Shame are both "real". The Yaak River Road...More

It is worth going out of your way to see the Yaak River and the town of Yaak. A trip to the Kootenai Falls on the Kootenai River is never complete unless you drive on through Troy, Montana and go up the Yaak River to...More
